let's talk about the bus rapid transit project on van ness avenue. how extensive have the improvements been? >> what's called the van ness transit rapid project is in fact more about complete reconstruction of the street and most importantly, the 100-year-old utilities underneath the street. so all of the water, sewer, telecommunications, gas lines under the street were basically rebuilt from market street all the way to lumbard. the part on the surface which provides dedicated bus lanes for golden gate transit and muni, that was relatively straight forward and we're so excited we're going to start revenue service for muni on april 1st. >> that's fantastic. i understand there were some sidewalk improvements too. >> there were sidewalk improvements. we planted 374 trees. there is new storm water treatment including infiltration in the sidewalk, there's a bunch of art. there's all kinds of things. we put in new street lights for the entire corridor. >> finally, the other big news is about the central subway. can you briefly describe the project and giv

surprises event around the full service and operations and a couple of other projects updates on van nessn update on items and so i'm happy to report that on june 21st with the contractor has two extended duration of support services and providing services for the duration that was approved by this board and with the finding that provided an update and the extension as laundry or $250,000 are approved by have been extended which afternoon came first and happy to report we reached the 6 months point and not spent the 250 and providing more detail to the board and next up is carville a project that has been as big as disruptive of our van ness work but not at many headlines and bring up this thing are preceding well a project we're entering the holiday moratorium for the three days through 0 november 30th with the carville from 15 to three 1 and as well as 50 avenue. and we have been continuing to do a lot of work with the terryville merchant association around maximum missing the efficiency of the work and minimizing the impacts despite the moratorium we'll be working on the water and sewe

the storm brought down a large ficus tree on mission street near south van ness. good news is there were no injuries, no property damage other than a large light bulb came down in the beauty lines came down as well. so the impact is that money mission street busses had to be rerouted for that. public works. crews scrambled to cut up the tree and clear the lanes. more crews are on standby in case there's more damage from the storm. the city says urban foresters will come out to examine other trees in the area to see if they also may be prone to collapse. we know that focus trees are more vulnerable to failure. we saw that today we think with this one, it wasn't when that product down, but it was a saturation of the ground and then the heavy canopy on it, navigating through the city, challenging commuters had to contend with standing. water on the central freeway. the rainwater also turned many of the surface streets into rivers. city workers scrambled from one intersection to the next working to clear clogged catch basins initially started out slow, but once people

but as you take a look, you can see that the intersection of south van ness and cesar chavez still shut down at this time. you can also see accident reconstruction of san francisco police investigators here on scene trying to figure out exactly what led up to this deadly motorcycle versus suv collision this morning. please tell us. that collision happened shortly before 9 30. the man driving the motorcycle was the person who died in this crash. investigators say the motorcycle was on cesar chavez and that the black suburban with one male driver made a left turn into the path of that motorcyclist. it appears that the driver of the solo suburban was making a left hand turn and in traffic. we call that the killer left. uh huh. and it appears that the motorcyclist who was traveling westbound, utilized the bike lane and went through the intersection and collided with the driver that's driving the suburban san francisco fire and machine station units responded , gave life saving measures, but unfortunately the driver of the motorcycle was deceased. on scene. the case is still under investigat
