vance benefits. vance moves to the general election. a quick look at the general election here.s tim ryan. he wins the democratic primary easily. he has been in congress two decades. the challenge he is up against is simply that ohio has become a different state politically since donald trump emerged on the scene. this is a state that obama carried twice. trump by eight in 2020 and 2016. the part of the state where tim ryan is from is a crucial part of the story. look at where youngstown is. this is part of tim ryan's congressional district that he has represented for 20 years. trump carried that county by two points in 2020. if that doesn't seem impressive, consider that in 2012, when obama won the state of ohio, obama won the county by 28 points. you have seen a 30-point shift in the youngstown area. you have seen shifts comparable to that through the valley, southern ohio, the appalachian region of ohio. you have seen counties that obama won, was competitive in as recently as 2012 that donald trump now racked up margins of 30, 40 points or more in. that's been the transformat

whether jd vance wins or not, there's almost as many people supporting jd vance as are undecided.eling that whoever wins that race, they're going to be trying to run as fast as possible into the arms of former president trump. we all need to be reminded that former president trump won ohio by more than 8% twice. ohio was seen as a sort of really up in the air state. then her comes former president trump along and has pulled that state red. it tells you a lot about the power of former president trump and his ideas. >> what's interesting is endorsing jd vance, a never trumper, because of celebrity, because of polling, whatever, it's like the pennsylvania primary where he endorsed dr. oz over david mccormick who is a strong trump supporter, married to a former trump white house aide. so it's celebrity that matters. >> yeah. that's sort of classically trump, right? he's probably watched a lot of dr. oz. i think in some ways the more interesting element here is not why trump makes these donations. it's the contortions that the candidates make to get trump's endorsement. if you looked b

vance. the other thing for vance, mat dolan trying to beat vance.plit up among a bunch of different candidates and there would be a path within more moderate republican voters. voters in and around metropolitan areas. for instance, take a look at cuyahoga county, cleveland, dolan family here, owners of the baseball team in cleveland. the calculation here from the dolan campaign there were going to be a lot of votes for dolan to really run up the score. and maybe there was going to be more resistance to the trumpism. but vance didn't fine here, he didn't win cuyahoga county but he didn't get blown out. only an eight-point margin. we see that in the populated centers. columbus, the state capital, the dolan folks were hoping to win by 20 points. vance held him to six. vance did great in the trump areas but also a p.o. in the suburbs that wasn't expected. >> thank you very much. fascinating. >>> coming up, you've probably been hearing that a number of states have trigger laws on abortion. what does that mean? we'll look into that, next. you're watching
