inning deed, i'm ashley webster in for stuart varney. dr. fauci in the headlines again, this time for saying the cdc is, quote, actively considering reinstating the mask mandate. this would be regardless of your vaccination status. so do we really need another mask mandate? well, i'm going to talk to dr. marc siegel about that. meantime, crime is spiking across the country, but instead of finding a solution, democrats want to pin the blame on republicans. have they forgotten all their calls to defund the police? well, if they have, we've got the tape to remind them. but first, take a look at the markets. we'll talk about earnings in a second. stocks right now focused on the fed meeting tomorrow, all moving lower by about a third or a quarter percent. the dow off 111 points in the premarket. let's take a quick look at the 10-year yield as well, if we can, that is also down about a basis point, down to 1.266%. and as i mentioned, it is a huge week for earnings. more than one-third of s&p companies reporting this week. big tech had been in the

"varney and company" begins right now. stuart: inflation running hot, profits very strong, blockbuster numbers this morning, this is what wall street has been waiting for. let's deal with inflation. at the consumer level prices are rising at an annual rate of 5.4%. this is the inflation you and i feel in our daily lives and those price hikes are running hot. the federal reserve think this inflation is transitory. investors not so sure about that. look at the yield on the 10 year treasury moving up to one.37%. that is an inflation indicator. let's deal with the profit situation coming in strong at jpmorgan, $3 trillion under management and they took in $30 billion in 3 months. the stock already of 20% this calendar year, down just a fraction this morning after that runoff. goldman sachs the same story, very strong profits. they made a lot of money in the booming ipo market. these two banks started the earnings reporting season and so far it is off to a good start. as for the market reacting to all of this the dow industrial

>> well, thanks for having me, varney.ed those loans forgiven like they've been forgiven for other farmers, but you were refused, again, because you are white. so you tell me, what's the status of your suit right now? >> i am not 100% sure on how the suit is going. i don't really understand the law side of it, but i know tried to put a stay on it. we're fighting that. there's multiple lawsuits throughout the country to the law firm that we're using, pacific legal foundation, has multiple lawsuits in several states. but -- and to clarify, it's not actually loans taken just because of covid. it's just farm loans in general that are being forgiven for socially-disadvantaged farmers and farmers of color. stuart: how much money are we talking about with your loans? >> personally, i've got over $150,000 in loan principal right now. they are going -- i mean, there's potential there for well over a million dollars to be forgiven. let's say a farmerred had taken a loan out in 2018, i think anything before january of 2020 qualified.
