janine de la vega is live in san jose. you have seen several cases of driversed that ha to be rescue -- that had to be rescued from cars. >> reporter: yeah emergency crews have been driving from accident scene to accident scene. i'm in the southbound lanes of highway 87 at taylor. this roadway is completely flooded. you can see there is just one lane of southbound traffic coming through here because there is a bunch of standing water that is just completely flooded. i can't even tell really how high it is. those cars you see in the distance are using the car pool lane right now. and until the water reseeds, they won't be able -- recedes, they won't be able to open this up. now i want to go to some video that we got earlier from a cell phone showing another car that got stuck in the water. that happened at santa clara near stockton street in downtown san jose at about 4:00 a.m. a man drove into standing water there. water started flooding into his car. a passer by and then a policeman had to get him out of the window and th

janine de la vega just arrived on the scene. good morning. >> reporter: yes, good morning, so far what we know is that no streets are closed off yet, and they don't think that there is any immediate danger to the public but there is a k-9 search going on. they're doing a yard to yard search. just north here of of montecedo aver. they told us to stay away from the area because the exhaust fumes were messing with the scent that the k-9 was picking up. here's what we know. for the last hour there has been an active search going on. earlier this morning, officers spotted a stolen vehicle. three people were inside. they were able to catch up with two of them. they're now in custody, but one of those people, a man ran away, and that is what they're doing now. trying to find where he is, and now that it's daylight that's surfacing, they do believe that they will catch him within their finger. no immediate danger for -- within their perimeter. no immediate danger. if you can stay inside your homes, please do. no indication that the pers

ktvu janine de la vega is there. she will have more in a live report for you coming up in our next half hour. >>> the investigation continues into the oakland shooting where passengers inside an ac transit bus were caught in the middle of a deadly gun battle. it happened near 78th and bancroft avenues yesterday afternoon. two bus passengers started arguing. then after they got off the bus started shooting at each other out on a street with several bullets hitting the bus. one of the unidentified gunmen were killed, the other escaped. no one on the bus was injured. >>> one oakland elementary school will be on lock down due to security concerns. ktvu news obtained a menu. it alerts parents to an unspecified threat against a student that has prompted extra security measures. the gates outside the school will be locked all day while the student is in class. they are also taking several other steps to make sure the students are safe. >>> you already know it is girl scout cookie selling time and a 13-year-old bay area girl

live in san jose janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. >>> turning now to our other top story. a statewide amber alert remains in effect as police investigate a possible carjacking in oakland. you are looking at a live picture of one of the freeway signs along interstate 880 in oakland giving the information. now police across the state are looking for three people in this case. but there are many questions surrounding the incident involving a suspected shoplifter, a man, and his 13- year-old girl. last night police released new video of the shoplifting suspect at the center of this amber alert. it was taken just moments before he left a safeway store near highway 13 in oakland yesterday afternoon. witnesses say the man had a knife when he jumped into a parked vehicle and took off with a man and teenager inside. >> we also have information reported to us by witnesses that the occupants of that vehicle did not know the suspect. we want to find them, find them safely. >> so far nonmissing person report has been filed by family or friends of the two possible victims. but investiga
