joining me now are nbc's al roker and ali velshi in louisiana. ali, we know that parts of louisiana are also under a tornado threat. tell us about what the weather pattern looks like right now and what are you seeing in terms of big picture trends. >> reporter: the two big trends are going to be this vigorous system. the feeder bands extend all the way to alabama. we have tornado watches from louisiana through mississippi and up into arkansas. as it pushes north it will bring more activity. it's 65 east northeast of shreveport. it's moving north at 15. it's going to weaken, but it's still powerful with strong winds. it will bring flooding rain and the threat of tornados. it weakens on friday but moves up into ohio and mississippi river valleys. by saturday it's off the northeast coast and finally clears off. we're worried about the winds as the winds push north. we're seeing power outages in litt little rock. it's going to be bringing down trees and power lines. that's why the outage potential through friday brings it up through the appalachians
