rosemary. >> yes, andre and ventura county, part of the red flag warning. that will go until tomorrow afternoon. let's check in on the current conditions out there. a widespread winds out there, but not too bad at this very moment. seeing wind gusts isolated 30 to 40mph. camarillo in ventura county reporting 31, and santa ana in los angeles reporting a wind gusts to 18. as we take a look at the futurecast when it comes to the winds, notice again kind of the bull's eye stretching over ventura county, parts of malibu, and then the north and west sections of los angeles. and as we get into the afternoon, expected to pick up and then this red flag warning that goes until 6 p.m, indicating that we could see, of course, those gusts for the next 12 to 18 hours or so, continuing on with very dry conditions, relative humidity out there already in the teens for many parts of southern california. and as we know, the vegetation is tinder dry. so the wind gusts out there at this hour are ranging from 20 to 40mph. could again strengthen as we get into later today and the

now, this is burning off of highway 101 near the los angeles ventura county border. evacuations were ordered immediately, and we're learning that investigators are interviewing a possible person of interest connected to that fire and any possible connections to other fires. senator adam schiff is telling people they need to get out now. we keep seeing these fires pop up in different places. we may see more before this is over. if you're told to evacuate, then get the hell out. you might think you can outrun a fire. you are not going to outrun these fires. you are not going to outrun the fires. that is the truth. now the winds are still at red flag levels, but gusts have been less intense. firefighters are now using this opportunity to start working on containment lines for the eaton and the palisades fire. you can see those here right now. eaton fire, which is near pasadena. palisades fire right there. so far, neither has any containment. let's show you some aerials from above so you can see just how extensive the damage is. now, you heard them say the palisades fire

he's with the ventura county fire department assigned to the palisades fire.so, andy, i appreciate your time. so, palisades fire. you know, we're obviously in malibu. they're concerned about areas like this over these hours with the wind. what is the latest as you see it with this palisades fire? i mean, it's it's a mammoth thing, but that doesn't mean you can see it from every place that you're standing. >> yeah i understand. >> our biggest concern at this point in time is the wind event that's upcoming. the good news about the wind event, it is pushing the fire. any potential fire front that was moving towards the north of the east, back upon itself. so that's very good news because the fire has consumed the majority of the fuel at that end of the fire. we've supplemented the potential growth to the north with phos-chek and handlines put in by our firefighters. >> so when we talk about containment, it was 11% yesterday. it's 14% today. when you look at that and, you know, you might say, okay, that doesn't sound good, but tell me where you are on that contain

parts of los angeles and ventura county counties are under the highest level. red flag warnings today. dangerous winds are expected to return, and officials are warning that these winds could be strong enough to cause the way they're describing it is explosive fire growth. now, last night, a new fire did erupt in ventura county. it's called the auto fire. it's so far 0% contained. emergency crews say the next 48 hours are going to be critical, as these winds are expected to potentially gust back up to 70mph. cnn's stephanie elam is in pacific palisades. she's joining us now. and, stephanie, when it's gusting 70 miles an hour, we've all quickly learned that means that aircraft could once again be grounded. what does this mean for fire containing efforts? >> right, kate. that is really key to containing a fire. >> is having that battle from the sky. one good thing about the auto fires, while they haven't contained it, they said that they have stopped the further progression of it so far. but what we are expecting is more of these winds to start. actually about ne

firefighters battling a fire now in ventura county. just one of the areas under the highest fire threat. red flag warnings have been expanded because of just how strong the winds are expected to be. the danger of more fire outbreaks remains, and the winds could potentially undo the progress that firefighters have made in trying to contain the palisades fire and the fire in altadena. joining me now is california congresswoman sidney dove. thank you so much for joining us. as you watch what is happening in southern california, and i know that you've been there, you have seen firsthand the enormity of the damage in altadena. when you look at at the damage and the vastness of it, how long do you predict it may take to rebuild? are we talking years? not months? >> we are talking years. the tour i had in altadena i saw pure and utter devastation. and we have short term and long term needs, right? we certainly need to get out the facts of what's going on. hydrants were not turned off. we have enough water, but there is no system in the world
