this venue has been one of the venues that play the music that i enjoy and you don't see it much in san francisco. so i came out when i seen that they were going to be on the entertainment commission before you guys, just to say that i am supporting the group. i never met the owners or seen them before. but the music, that they provide at the venue, some of the music is music that is dear to my heart that i grew up with and i enjoy it dramatically and you can't find it in san francisco. so i hope that they have been in business for a long time and so they, you know, they have been very responsible business people to given the opportunity, i would think that they would be able to come with some intelligent and appropriate solution to resolve this. i think that it is important that they are not burdened with the past operators and issues that are plagued with this particular space, but given the fair opportunity to operate and make the changes that will only be successful for not only the city, but specifically for the property eners and the tenants in that building that obviously critica

and outside of the venues and we want to make sure that we have the correct data. in analyzing that. >> supervisor weiner, >> thank you. and it is a perspective here is important in terms of increases and decreases by percentage, it is more helpful for look at the raw numbers, if something goes from ten to 15 incidents just to give an example it is a 50 percent increase and it is helpful to look at raw numbers and also keeping in mind that the entertainment commission regulates the place of entertainment permit holders, not bars and other night life establishments that don't need a place of entertainment permit. and so it is also a pretty small subsection of night life in general. i do want to stress and president chiu mentioned the importance of making sure that we do not set the entertainment commission up for failure, and i think that when the commission was created and for a number of years, we put all of these more and more enforcement obligations on the commission, while starving the agency of resources. and so, as president chiu mentioned he and i teamed up

when we have venues that are open, at night, with often with security guards now on the street, that makes our streets safer. we are a world class city and we have world class night life and we need to make sure that that continues. and we have had violence in some situations at night clubs. and i really want to acknowledge that i do not envy president chiu's position of having to deal with some of the issues around broad way and there have some extreme situations on broad way and i think that is again, something that i do not envy for president chiu or the police or the entertainment having to deal with. we absolutely when the nightclub is not complying with the rules or not keeping the people safe and then the action needs to be taken. president chiu mentioned that he gave the entertainment commission through legislation additional tools to do that and i have pending legislation to give them even more flexibility in terms of enforcing against bad actors. and we definitely, need to do that and i believe that the commission has really turned things around in the last few years in ter

that it is a component of venues. it's what we see on beachfront properties along san diego and long beach. it is oriented to this public assembly use either performance use or venues use. we know about the opera house. it was a site that hosted some of the olympic activities and designated as a world heritage site in 2007. it's what we think of when we think of sydney. the opera house was opened in 2008. it was designed by snow -- the same firm designed to build 30-32 and a place where people go to enjoy the open space. it's another example of contaminated industrial water fronts repurposed for this kind of public assembly use. in vancouver, you have the convention center with a great public walkway that connects restaurants and hotels along the waters edge. this kind of convention use is sort of meeting that urban design standard that we would hope to meet with 30-32 with the proposed project. this is boston contemporary art which opened in 2006. a 65,000 square foot building. it's leaning over the boston harbor and
