veronica johnson has spoke to v-dot today about its expectations for road conditions tomorrow morning. the roads after the storm stopped a couple of hours ago, they're still pretty bad. >> reporter: they are still pretty bad. that's the thing. this is the intersection of spelt run and lee highway. and in fact the sidewalks are faring a lot better than the actual road. still covered with a lot of slush around here as we made our way over to this area. this is what most of the roads actually look like. in fact i stood out here just a couple of minutes ago. yes, they're slushy. i've got some infrared thermometer where i've been taking a temperature reading. watching the road surface temperature continue to drop. right now actually at around 35 36 degrees. but again, it will continue to drop as we head up the road toward the north there for the 66 on ramp. you can see cars making their way through, yes, no issues they're going at a fairly decent speed, too. but i think the real problem as we head southbound down lee highway tomorrow morning will be the inclines the ramps, the hills, becau

kpix 5's veronica de la cruz joins us now. veronica, other agencies are now stepping in to handle the unrest. >> reporter: that's right. st. louis county police and missouri state highway patrol are taking over protest security in ferguson tonight. this while authorities work to find the person who shot the two officers. s.w.a.t. team members smashed through the roof of a home in ferguson, missouri just blocks from where two police officers were shot. >> they going in the house, searching the house yelling, come out with your hands up, we know you in there. >> reporter: police questioned several people but did not make any arrests. [ screaming ] >> reporter: cell phone video captured the shooting outside police headquarters just after midnight as a protest started to break up. >> we saw the muzzle fire from the gun up top of the street and so we were all kind of just ducked down. >> reporter: the st. louis county police chief calls it an ambush. >> we're lucky by god's grace we didn't lose two officers last night. >> reporter:

>> reporter: that's right, veronica. the relatives have been gathered right here at this hotel in berkeley. denise huskins phoned her father and he received the phone call here around 9:30 this morning that she was safe and sound in southern california. we spoke to her cousin a short while ago. she says denise told her father that at least two men perhaps more were involved in her kidnapping two days ago. she says they took her away from her boyfriend's home in vallejo in the middle of the night. and then this morning, inexplicably they dropped of had other in southern california at her mom's house in huntington beach. >> when she spoke to him, um, she told him that she was not physically harmed, she did not know her abductors, um, that she was blindfolded, um, and bound and gagged, you know, at least for part of the time. >> reporter: dozens of police officers, federal agents, have been here in the area in vallejo as have many of denise's family members. they were searching for her. now they're searching for answers. wh

let's go straight to storm team 4 meteorologist veronica johnson. -in the weather center with the first word. >> seems hike we're stuck again. just can't seem to get moving into spring. temperatures once again some 10 degrees below average. upper 40s across the area. 47 degrees currently inside the beltway. 45 leesburg. low 40s to the north. almost 50 degrees down to the south. warrenton at 50. but an overcast sky throughout the area and very limited sunshine today. we're not seeing any rain. but our chances of getting rain will be increasing during the overnight and early part of the day tomorrow. those temperatures once again heading down into the 30s. another cold night. we drop to 39 degrees by 11:00 p.m. we hang out in the mid-40s for at least the next couple hours. so the next few days you'll need to keep your umbrella handy. we're talking about different intensities of rain from the very light showers to the heavy. i'll show you when the heaviest moves in and how much we'll get coming up. >>> metro says more riders are refusing to pay their f
