way, way back when i was a congressman from vermont in 1999, i'll never forget this as long as i livef working class women many struggling from breast cans we went over the canadian border to montreal and we walked in and we had planned this out, we walked in to a pharmacy in montreal and the women there were able to purchase tamoxifen, a widely prescribed breast cancer drug, for one tenth of the price that they are paying in vermont. i will never forget, tears, these are working class women struggling for their lives, tears were coming out of their eyes as they were able to purchase the medicine they needed for 10% of what they were paying in vermont. on drug after drug, go all over the world, uk, france, scandinavia, canada, wherever it is, the same exact drug in the same exact bottle made in the same factory is sold in this country for far, far higher prices. meanwhile, last year the five major drug companies made $50 billion in profit. we say to the drug companies that elderly people in vermont and new hampshire and in this country are not going to have to cut their pills in half,
