the news at 6:00 in a few minutes, but let's go to my favorite colleague, vern glenn, who is just bringing it every day with his stories. hey, vern. >> reporter: jules, jules, jules, welcome to the nfl fan experience. boy what an experience it is for me. that will be in just a little bit. but let's talk about the 49ers on their third day in las vegas. the 49ers finally held their first practice on the line at unlv. with head coach kyle shanahan, what he says the team will do to continue to practice there as scheduled. now we all know that the super bowl week is unlike any other game. the team experienced during the regular season. kyle shanahan knows when the week is over, anyone will remember who is holding the trophy. >> it is a cool week. you get caught up in a lot of stuff. but i mean you don't remember all the stuff. you remember the game. people for the rest of their life should remember that game and that is all that matters. and you can say that and it is cool when they have gone through that and people tend to listen more. that's the truth. that's how it goes. all the stuff is fun

our vern glenn and juliette goodrich, our own super stars, lead our live team coverage from vegas tonight. hey guys. >> reporter: you know what, now it's on. now it is on. i can hardly contain myself. i cannot believe this venue. i cannot believe this venue that you are about to see as we are less than four days away from super bowl lviii. the 49ers and chiefs will be playing for once in this building, the vince lombardi trophy. it is right behind me. niners legend jerry rice delivered the lombardi trophy just a little bit ago. at the nfl experience, which opened for business today. 49ers, they have five of these trophies. the last one came 29 years ago when rice and steve young led san francisco to a win in super bowl 29. so i ask young if it feels like it's been nearly three decades since that victory. >> feels like it is less, but it is incredible. and our organization, i give them credit. i give john lynch credit and kyle credit for building and making a team that feels resonated to me. leadership out of the locker room, the style, the success. they have been knocking on the door for

our vern glenn live tonight at allegiant stadium. as a nasty blackjack hand where you think you're in control, but the dealer gets the last laugh. >> reporter: boy, he is exactly right on that one. in fact, i'm standing in the end zone where the game ended, sara, second time in the last four years the 49ers were this close, on the brink of a super bowl title only to have it ripped away by the kansas city chiefs. san francisco was going for a sixth super bowl title. fourth quarter, kansas city leading 16-13, purdy to jauan jennings, fought his way into the end zone. the game goes to overtime 19-19. 9ers dove inside the ten with the ball first. purdy's pass to jennings incomplete. san francisco settled for a field goal. so the chiefs could win it with a touchdown. they're facing fourth and one. patrick mahomes picked up the first down and kept the game alive. now first and goal for kansas city, mahomes threw a wide open mecole hardman and the game winning touchdown pass and chiefs won it 25-22 in overtime, crushing loss for the 49ers wh
