vernon odom now live above the vine street expressway. vernon all of this is about the bridges that go over that highway just like the one on which you're standing today. >> reporter: brian, i'm standing on one of those 60-year-old bridges that needs work. and i mean lots of work. take a look over to i676 eastbound at 21st street. you see traffic there but that's an old bridge that's going to need a lot of work and we're about to enter a brave new world along i676 and it will be that way well into 2019. the seven bridges over i676 were built in the 50's and they're now in bad shape. penndot says the bridges from 18th to 22nd are all structurally deficient now and penndot says the time to act is now. >> they're not dangerous they're not weight restricted. they are a type of construction that has a lot of problems internally that we can't necessarily see. what we can see gives us some concern about their condition cracked concrete, rust, surfaces that look like there are things going on underneath. >> reporter: penndot engineers looked over

now, alexandria police are looking for two people who stabbed someone across the street from mount vernon elementary. this happened after school hours, but people inside were told to stay indoors for a time. the victim is a 17-year-old man. his injuries are not life-threatening. scott: new protest tonight over the death of freddie gray who was in police custody. large crowds gathered outside of the police department for a second night. gray suffered a severe spinal injury earlier this month while in custody but how it happened is still under investigation. six officers have been suspended with pay. baltimore's mayor said it took too long for medics to be called to help gray. the justice department will look into whether there was a civil rights investigate -- civil rights violation. some of those calling for police reform will meet with members of congress tomorrow, part of a larger group taking part in the march to justice. the nine-day 250-mile trek ends on the west lawn of the u.s. capital. they are pushing for an end to police related deaths and systematic racism. >> we can mask as mu

vernon odom is live now in elkins park with more on the story. >> that bail number continues today as court called jordan an exfirefighter in cheltenham township is held for trial on multiple charges stemming from a terrifying incident in late march. cole jordan entered for his first court hearing after an incident in the fire company building. the night before jordan was fired by the board of governors late the next morning jordan when back to the basement and argued with a member and pulled a gun and a few of the men managed to escape and four firefighters were held at gun point. he waived the handgun around repeatedly telling one hostage he would kill them. he fired one round 6 inches from the men and he was arrested at high noon. paul jordan the exfirefighter from the fire company in elkins park, the charges include kidnapping aggravated assault and terroristic threats and various weapons offenses. at this hour he is back in prison. >> thank you. >>> a 38-year-old man is in custody after he held his mother and grandmother hostage in west philadelphia the situation started at 6:00
