welcome back, i'm allen martin. >> i'm veronica de la cruz. kpix 5's christin ayers is near the fire. christin, what's the latest? >> reporter: the latest evacuations, we have about 200 homes in the berryessa estates area that are threatened by this fire. that area has been evacuated. most of them from in that area evacuated. take a look over my shoulder at just how active this fire is burning. you can see the smoke rising from beyond that ridge. evacuees are being told to go to pope valley school or middletown high school for shelter. the fire is fueled by heavy drought conditions. you can see it from the chopper aerials. you can see right here the fire has spread in a very short amount of time of around 5:00 we told you a few hundred acres. and now again hearing that it's now 2500 acres. it's threatening homes in the area and livestock in this very rural area. authorities having a tough time fighting it out here. wind isn't a factor. instead, it's just the dry yellow grasses that you can see growing very high around here. this drought season
