let's check in with meteorologist veronica johnson to get an update on the forecast. nice changes. some sunshine. >> that's right. i think we need to hit the road today and start to enjoy the nice air moving in. it's going to be blowing us around a little bit this afternoon, but for the remainder of the week, the trails and parks will be filling up. >>> right now the temperature is at 51 degrees. wind at 6 miles per hour. that dry wind, a northwest wind. you can see up north around frederick now at 41 degrees. 45. up to 45 in gaithersburg, maryland. 51 in d.c. 50 degrees now in fredericksburg, virginia. so the clouds continue to break up, especially just west of frederick and down through front royal, around fredericksburg. that low pressure area is spinning off the coast of new jersey. that's the same one that brought snow over the weekend to west virginia, the mountains of north carolina and pennsylvania. finally it's moving away, and we're going to get stuck in this rut of sunshine, but who's complaining? so down into the 50s tonight. 70s on tap for tomorrow. a lot of sunshine.

veronica johnson is in the weather center with more. >> it's funny how the weather gets us that way in the afternoon. yeah, we started out with sunshine and breezy conditions. quickly, by the afternoon, the clouds rolled in and the winds picked up. earlier today, the winds were just under 40 miles per hour. take a look, winds gusting up to 26 miles per hour. get over into prince george's county, and clinton, maryland. the winds are gusting up to 30 miles per hour. most locations settled down to 20 to 25-mile-per-hour wind gusts and going to be pretty breezy in the evening hours and for a portion of the overnight. look at the radar. sunshine and clear skies. we have clouds rolling in about lunchtime today. the entire area now overcast. our temperature stands at 59 degrees with a south and southwest wind, sustained at 18 miles per hour. again, it's the higher gusts we are getting. we have, well no rain reported from the clouds here. up to the north, take a look in pennsylvania and to the west. there's a lot of rain and a lot more wind just to the northwest. wait until you see what chicag
