veronica johnson news 4 at 4:00 this afternoon and doug kammerer news 4 at 5:00 and 6:00 keeping you posted. that's likely when storms will be moving through between 4:00 and as late as 9:00 p.m. for far southern, eastern suburbs. maybe wind dam as they come through. brief downpours. you can see the latest radaapp. google play and the itunes store. keep up with the weather and ste and informed. storm team 4, no showers locally. some showers in the midwest. this is part of the front pushing into kentucky, southern pushing the rain into west virginia. it's all tracking due east, coming closer to our metro area by later this afternoon. it encounters the heat and high humidity. that's likely when storms will begin to get cooking. between 3:00 and 4:00, they will just begin to get going. around 5:00, 6:00 p.m., south of washington, that's the zone that could get the strongest storms, southern charles county, southern pe georges, st. mary's, stafford, spotsylvania, faulkier, as well as the lower neck and eastern shore later in the evening. probably no tornados. a very small chance of hail.

>>> let's talk to veronica johnson in the weather center, what is the word tonight? >> the word tonight if there is barbecuing going on, we're done with the showers and thunderstorms and unfortunately we're not done with the heat. at 4:30 p.m., we had showers and thunderstorms moving through right around d.c., in lancaster, right there is the north area, heading southeast away from our area. ocean city, maybe a shower or two. the big story really is the heat and high humidity. topped out at 95 degrees at reagan international. the high temperatures throughout the area, just over 90, leesburg, down through fredericksburg. and one thing we have not had was three days back-to-back that was 90 degrees or higher, so i think ironically enough, this could be the heat stretch of the summer. we'll tell you when it breaks and when we have showers and thunderstorms in the forecast coming up tonight. >>> new developments tonight in the death of a restaurant manager, a woman went to her job for the restaurant she worked at for 25 years. >> hours later she was dead, her body was fo

let's get straight to storm team 4 meteorologist veronica johnson in the storm center with your first forecast. veronica, lots of clouds out there. >> lots of clouds. and you mentioned the water, yeah, tides running a foot, foot and a half above normal. take you back 24 hours to show you just how that wind has been. again, a persistent east-northeasterly wind allowing the water to build up and in the wrong locations. and, of course, the lunar cycle just coming off a full moon. yesterday full moon. the coastal flood advisory for d.c. and an run dell, prince george's county, st. mary's, calvert county, until 2:00 a.m. in the morning. again a little water building up, but no water falling from the sky right now. all it's been is just yoef cast with a minimum -- misty, drizzly right near the water in ter. in terms of this evening, 79 degrees, might need a light jacket, but hold on. summer is coming back in a big way. and then, boom, temperatures drop again. your forecast in just a few. >> veronica, thanks. >>> first at 4:00 today, a look inside the new silver spring transit center. and so

>> let's ask storm team 4 meteorologist veronica johnson in the weather center. what about it, vj? >> i would go with a small umbrella for this evening. we might see a few showers south of d.c. later on. but the storms very slow to really materialize, if at all. hanging back to the south and west. reason for that is the cloud cover and the slower moving weather front. so it's kind of put the kibosh on the storms. radar fairly quiet back to la ray. a few showers starting to make their way into areas of the shenandoah valley and south. there is thunderstorm activity steppi into areas, that pocket of southwest virginia right now. the weather front back here too. but it is going to be moving in and more dramatic than any showers or storms we get will be the drop in temperatures. we're at 87 right now, fox. we're going to go from heat to cool. cool, feeling like fall around here as early as tomorrow morning. when i return in a few, i'll show you how low those temperatures will go throughout the area and in your neighborhood. we' see you then. don't forget to download the free nbc 4 weat

let's go straight to storm team 4 meteorologist veronica johnson in your storm center with the first forecast. >> on top of that, cool like fall today with temperatures solidly trapped in the 70s under that 80-degree mark. some of you had showers today and some of you had just a gray sky. on storm team 4 radar, blobs, shadings of blue and green where the rain is. and it's split at i-95 and off to the east where most of the showers are and really have been for the greater part of today. so southern maryland areas like st. mary's calvert county and leonardtown wet, as well as annapolis. and for most of the evening, that is exactly where those showers are going to stay. so in your weather headlines, gray skies for most. everybody still needs to stay umbrella-ready. coming up, i'll tell you about a little bit of heat is in autumn. i mean, real autumn-like air that moves in. i'll tell you in a couple minutes. >> not this august autumn stuff. thanks. >>> first at 4:00, george clooney letting us in on his wedding plans. >> also, prince william and kate middleton expecting again. odds makers
