time to get the latest from storm team 4 meteorolo veronica johnson. v.j.? >>> we have some scattered snows out there right now. as i think we get into the overnigh the early morning hours tomorrow we'll continue to see bands of snow kind of rotate through. so here's the way it's looking for tomorrow morning for school and work. here's where i think some of the better chance of seeing any de just to our north arnold winchester arias through leesburg montgomery county around sandy spring areas like oleny up toward frederick and hagerstown your best chance of dlas because this is where slightly higher snowfall totals versus right around d.c. or sout said we will see more snow rotate through again up until the early morning hours. we've got gaithersburg bowie, right up route 1 getting some light snow right now. south, but again, throughout the overnight hours, as low pressure develops a little stronger off the coast we'll see these bands of snow come rotating through. temperatures right now sitting at 35 degrees in d.c. 28 already in gaithersburg 34 in manassas

let's get to storm team 4 meteorologist veronica johnson in the weather center. v.j. how are things looking right now? >> right now we're just fine. sure we're getting reports of mostly sleet throughout the area with a little bit of snow mixing in. i don't think it's until we get to around 6:00, 7:00 8:00 where road surface temperatures could be low enough to cause any issues. by then most everything on the radar will be out of here. here's what to expect. mostly sleet, rain south of d.c. a few icy patches mainly north, areas around 70, 270, i-83. 34 degrees in gaithersburg 38 in d.c. 34 in leesburg. it's this pock tote the north, northern montgomery county loudoun county frederick county, washington county where there could be issues late. the pink is sleet and snow mixing in leesburg warrenton, across i-66, 70, 270, areas of northern and western howard county now reports of sleet coming down throughout the area. that winter weather advisory continues through 9:00 p.m. into dare d.c. areas, prince william, prince george's county anne arundel county and up to the nort

let's go to veronica johnson in the weather center. >> first we're going to see re-freeze overnight for any locations that weren't cleaned off, cleared up today. it could be a handful of slick spots by tom morning in those locations. as we said, southern maryland really brunt of it lexington park 1.7 inches 1.3 cull pupper to the south as we told you yesterday storm team 4 just 0.1 up and around d.c. now the radar shows everything dry early this morning that's where the snow was. but dry and quiet. our next chance of seeing any rain coming our way is not going to be until we get to the second half the weekend, early next week. but look at this the greatest impact for tomorrow morning right here in southern maryland for any areas that weren't cleared as temperatures drop to 28 degrees, camp springs 29 mechanicsville 30 leonardstown with slick rhodes. we'll show you a little warm-up a small one, all in a few minutes. >>> today's wet weather caused hundreds of accidents in virginia. state police reported more than 300 wrecks just this morning due to slick roads. fortunately, no injuries we

veronica johnson, you have snow at the current hour. >> that's right. small flakes of snow so we're seeing it reaccumulate now on our storm team 4 weather deck not so much on the black top but for any areas that did not get cleaned up today it will get icy and slick. it's slick on the patio right here. take a look at temperatures across the area. currently at 34 degrees inside the beltway. you have 28 around leesburg germantown mt. airy those locations below freezing for a while and road temperatures so important, now at 32 to 33 and up around areas like 70 at 31 degrees. in the next couple hours i see those temperatures road surface temperatures dropping to the upper 20s. again weather the snow back into the area and with us throughout the overnight i think that means patchy ice and slick spots by tomorrow morning. it means some delays as well. by afternoon we should have dry pavement but a cold one tomorrow. when i'm standing out here which i might be tomorrow doug it will also be pretty windy. >> yeah it will be windy. i think windchill will be somet

let's get to veronica johnson in the weather center. what's it looking like? >> it's looking like some of us will have to plan for a longer than average commute for tomorrow morning. not everyone. if you had the delays last night likely not in it this time. look at storm team 4 radar's quiet across the area, but down here where that moisture is gathering south of richmond, east of roanoke coming through, a storm system developing moving right off the coast of the carolinas. no advisories issued for our area yet but we're seeing them south, south of richmond. advisories for ice attempt around a quarter inch of ice can accumulate through the carolinas, for our area it's not going to take much. we think we could see travel disruptions certainly east of i-95. that is possible. and some scattered power outages down through areas of the northern neck not here as of yet. but again, could have advisories issued here soon. what to expect tomorrow morning, mainly along and east of i-95 with delays possible. i'll take you hour by hour for tomorrow morning, our hours of i

veronica johnson is in storm center four4 with the latest. >> more cold air tonight, and on top of that more wind which is really going to be taking down the wind chill temperatures. but it is on the other side of midnight too where we could see a few flurries coming through in our northwest communities. let's take a look and see where the temperature is right now. the high today, 24. we're at 23 currently, reagan national airport, with a wind chill reading of 12 degrees. and there's just a few clouds out there right now. but those clouds will be on the increase with a little weak system coming into our area. wind chill temperatures already in the teens to the north in most areas. 23 what it feels like in d.c. right now. but we are going to see these numbers drop tomorrow morning into the single digits as it does get cold yes. but then we're going to start rising and it's after tomorrow morning where it's really going to start feeling better around here. so inan extreme night again, harsh start for us tomorrow morning, but a pattern change you're going to like. at least we're going to g

. >> let's kick things off with storm team 4 meteorologist veronica johnson in the weather center. vj? >> yeah guys whether you're ready or not, here it comes. we haven't seen very much snow at all so far this season. and now our biggest snowfall of the season. winter weather advisory in all these counties shaded in purple to the south, so includes d.c. fairfax, prince william and fauquier county. up to the north and west for frederick county over in virginia too. what we're going to see in these locations is snow. it could be moderate at times. and then advisory means the possibility of accumulating snow. and what we'll find in those locations, 1 to 2 inches of snow fine and powdery. so not so much the amount of snow we're going to get, nothing big. but the timing during the morning rush and the type of snow that fine powdery type of snow makes conditions slick. there, just to our west a clipper system fast-moving, will put down just enough to cause some trouble on area roads. so what to expect tomorrow morning, snow that may stick on some of the secondary roads. bridges and overp

veronica johnson in just a minute. >> thank you, doug. >>> a rolling feud between two drivers ended with gunfire in loudoun county. >> northern virginia bureau chief juy reports on what looks like an extreme case of road rage. >> reporter: just a glance at melissa's suv will tell you a few things. she is a mom and she wants aggressive drivers to keep back. >> try to give everybody their space and, you know, i like to have the same courtesies you know respect my space and i'll respect yours. >> reporter: along with other drivers today she's shocked to hear about a tailgating incident near dulles town center thursday that ended with gunfire happening in broad daylight just before noon. it was shortly after the cars pulled on to route 7 westbound the trouble started. the victim noticed somebody tail fwaeting and soon that same car pulled to his passenger side. the driver in the other car was yelling at him. the two exchanged gestures and shortly after that the victim heard some loud sounds. sounds like gunshots. the suspect vehicle exited onto the loudoun county parkway. the victim discover

storm team 4 meteorologist veronica johnson is here with more on what is the coldest air of our season. >> that's right. you have to go all the way back to last january, early part of january, to find ahat's been as cold for us. yeah it's been unseasonably cold and this is day three of it. we're almost out of it though. take a look. we're at 23 degrees. the wind chill, 13. by almost out of it i mean folks, we've got another cold night to get through. 23 now. look at the temperatures across some other locations. neighborhoods up around gaithersburg around leesburg around manassas and fairfax and falls church at 21 degrees. but factor in the wind and we're already in the single digits in a couple neighborhoods from montgomery county up through areas of frederick county in maryland. low temperatures tonight dropping down to around 14 to 21 degrees across the area. but factor in the winds, which are going to be picking up as another little weak system steps into the area. we're talking about another extreme night for us. gusty, harsh start for tomorr

. >>> hello, everybody, i'm meteorologist doug kammerer alongside veronica johnson.tem we have seen for more than a week really made its presence felt today. >> right. snow yes, but now the next step and that's going to be the temperatures that come with it. and the wind. >> exactly right. first off, let's take a look at the snow coming down this morning, between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. this was a time period that we mentioned we would be seeing the snow. one thing we were not sure about was right here. see this banding right here those bands created 1 inch per hour snowfall rates. that's what helped places like inches of snow a little earlier today. that snow is now gone. but the cold temperatures are now here. 23 in gaithersburg. 28 in reston. 26 in camp springs. so anything that fell today and melted is just going to freeze right over one more time. and that's why early tomorrow morning and really overnight tonight, we're going to be experiencing problems. so everything freezing roads will be quite slick overnight and into early tomorrow. walking will still be tough, a

storm team 4 meteorologist veronica johnson joins us now from the weather center to explain. vj? >> that is guys. and we had a lot of melting take place today, easy to do. we stopped out at 42 our warmest since monday. in fact look at the temperatures now. they're still holding mid and upper 30s across the area from manassas at 34. 37 in town. already at freezing and just below, around sandy spring. hanging on to 40 around fredericksburg and down south around quantico. here is the deal. by around 8:00 to 9:00 this evening, our temperatures in many neighborhoods will hit that freezing mark. and we're going to stay below freezing throughout the day tomorrow. but very critical overnight. we'll see a lot of refreeze. that means possible -- some slick conditions with black ice around the area. and that i think, could be an issue whether on roads or even on sidewalks where we have some of those icy spots. so black ice tonight. sub freezing tomorrow. monday morning, potential even of some freezing rain around the area. in just a couple minutes, when i return i'll take you hour by hour t

of mark segraves has more on this threat but let's go first to veronica johnson with the conditions from storm center 4. hey, vj. >> hey, guys. today was pretty warm. we got up over 40 degrees. in fact 42 was our high temperature. so lots of melting snow across the area today. but now temperatures already falling off. they're going to fall fast, and they're going to fall deep tonight. those temperatures. let me show where we are right now. already at 36 degrees in d.c. freezing most neighborhoods in the 20s already, up to the north. aspen hill rockville. you'll drop to 10 degrees tonight. 11 manassas. 17 degrees in d.c. and i think that after we pass the 9:00 p.m. hour that we are going to be dipping down. many neighborhoods to freezing and start to see some icy patches with refreeze. and black ice that will be out there. you have any driving to do late tonight or early tomorrow just a couple of minutes, i'll show you that next system that moves in late sunday night. i'll have that coming up. >>> right now so many ponds and rivers are frozen over. but first responders say it's an acciden
