and the vfx behind the matrix resurrections. mobile world congress.very year, barcelona used to be lit up with smartphone launches and announcements of connected devices, beyond what you might ever think of or need. now, 2020 was pretty much a no—show, for obvious reasons, and last year — well, that was just weird. we've arrived. this is fira de barcelona. yes, the show was back on, but we couldn't go — although you were there in spirit, if not in body. yeah, the less said about that, the better. but this year, it's back in full swing with all sorts of companies showing off their latest wares. so, whilst i'm here at the design museum in london, where behind me, there's a good old—fashioned brick phone and a nokia 3310 — remember those? — we know how fast these phones change, so we've sent omar mehtab and osman iqbal to barcelona. samsung, nokia, huawei, oppo, xiaomi — they're all here and all got something to show. that's the thing about mwc, isn't it? it's all about the big releases. say, for example, this — the samsung 522 ultra. the supposedly best

part of the story of the book is if you are unhappy with the vfx on technology and society, yes you can be angry at the leadership of google or amazon or apple or microsoft and facebook but not only them because ultimately the failure to mitigate the harm of technology is a failure of our political system and elected officials so there is a need for all of us in the context of the republic to get informed to develop a view on these issues and hold politicians accountable for showing leadership in mitigating these harms. >> thank you. very inspirational thoughts that everybody can and should take the responsibility. this one is back to rob. there's quite a few parallels being drawn with past lessons so i'm going to join in on a couple of those. for over 30 years the government's have appropriate action on climate change and now with our backs against the wall, action is still insufficient. given that, why do you think the governments will be able to take appropriate action on ai and then the other question that i think is related is that there are parallels between big tech today and the
