vianey arana in for kari this morning. how is it looking today? >> we've got something to our north that will bring a spotty chance. spotty is the name of the game today, because based on where the satellite is showcasing the system, it's pretty far north. in san francisco it's about 52 degrees, wind speeds are calm. temperatures throughout, we've got 40s for san jose, 48 degrees, dublin 42, sonoma 51. not too cold of a morning. this is what i was talking about. we do have a weaker low pressure system, and so far it looks like for folks who live north of the golden gate bridge, you're probably going to see the most activity today. areas south of the golden gate bridge are not really going to get much. tomorrow, even though this looks like it could pack a punch, it's rather weak and a lot of it is going to remain offshore. keep this in mind heading into this evening. as mike said, maybe just carry an umbrella so you're not caught off guard by light drizzle. >>> i know you don't carry an umbrella. we're looking at a smooth drive around the bay. gree

here to tell us more is meteorologist vianey arana. >> you know, i think for the most part, if people were already taking the time to actually place things in those recycling bins they're putting forth a positive effort so your thinking okay, i did my job. i separated and put my stuff in the recycling bin and it most cases you would think that would work. however, by this point we've seen a lot of studies and according to the epa, they say of the nearly 300 million tons of waste generated in the u.s., only 94 million tons were recycled and composted in 2018. that's about 32%. there are millions of tons managed through food pathways and epa says that number is low even though it is estimated that around 75% can, in fact, the recycles -- recycled. there is something called recycling contamination, hence confusion with the blue bins. what san jose is doing is inspecting blue bins and giving feedback by using these stickers. these are the ones you see on your screen here and you can see there in the reddit says whoops and try again along with guidance on what can go in there and what cann

i am here now with vianey arana. where is is expected to come down right now? >> we do have doppler radar scanning the skies right now. that is in the south bay, but that does not mean that san francisco and the north is in the clear just yet. let's take a closer look at exactly where we will see rain coming down. ally look using our satellite radar, you can see the center of that low sitting off the pacific northwest. if i zoom in on our mobile doppler radar, we can see moving into parts of the south bay and some light scattered activity does north of san francisco, then it goes in three parts of ukiah, a bit closer and you can see san francisco has a break with scattered activity into parts of hayward. a good amount of light to moderate rain moving through, right now it is coming down, cruising down through parts of gilroy on deck as the system continues to move through. this is inspected to bring huge amounts of rainfall. we are expecting less than half an inch for most of us, but we are expecting some cro winter storms. you can see that is starting to come
