vianey arana joins us now with a look at your microclimate forecast as we remain under a microclimateeather alert because of the air quality and everything we're experiencing from these fires. hey, vianey. >> hey there, unfortunately we are still under a spare the air alert and that is expected to remain in place through tomorrow. it was extended but right now we are seeing the coast with that fog that marine layer, especially in san francisco. i mean, this camera you can barely make out the city behind it because of the fog it's about 56 degrees right now, further inland you can see san jose, waking up to about 55 degrees. we will be seeing those hazy skies yet again today. we do have a little bit of an onshore wind kicking up this afternoon but here is where we stand for today's air quality forecast. the north bay, 124, remains unhealthy, all the way down through the south bay. now keep in mind this is all done based on a scale on airnowgov. it changes progressively throughout the day. see the current conditions now versus today's forecast. i will have a closer look at that and what

pretty unbelievable video there. >>> vianey arana joining us now. you're more in tune with this kind of stuff than we are, but that looks very unusual to me. >> yeah. you know, i was actually reading the threads on twitter from this video that, you know, has been circulating everywhere. you know, judging by the meteorologists' response, the scientists' response. they are saying they believe it is the first ever issued, the tornado warning, by the national weather service specifically for a wildfire-generated, pyroconvective event. so this is definitely something that is unique. now, it isn't necessarily rare. i think what made it so unique was the fact that it was observed. it was caught on video, and also there was a warning for it. we've seen something similar in thefire, but that more sort of -- it came out of nowhere, and it caught us by surprise. so that's sort of what makes this so rare. as far as, you know, the temperatures here locally, though, we're going to continue to monitor our thunderstorm activity because that will bring the potential

vianey arana joins us for your forecast. what a wacky morning, vianey, good morning you to. >> indeed, good morning. waking up to you guys' texts, from you and aaron, i apologize, i am so sorry for waking up you. i hope it didn't wake up everybody's babies. my dog is barking. i want to talk about satellite and radar. we're not in the clear just yet. these storms can be very dangerous as they're fast-moving. you've seen the lightning. we've gotten reports of hail, gusty conditions. and we're not clear just yet. i'm zooming in satellite radar a little closer. you can see how quickly the fast-moving storm is pushing to the north and all those lightning strikes, those are the lightning strikes we've captured in the past three hours, on a loop. that severe thunderstorm warning is now set to expire until 8:00 a.m. this was actually just recently updated, a few minutes before gusty winds, upwards of 70 plus miles an hour. hail the size of a penny. lightning, thunder, and rain. we're not in the clear just yet. if you have pets, pleas

vianey arana joins us as we look at the forecast as we remain under the weather alert. a lot to get to, vianey, i'll hand it over to you. >> you got it, kira. things are overall pretty calm, asd. there's very visible smoke in the area. current temperature 65 degrees in the area, winds are calm but fog is building around the coastline including in areas like santa cruz and monterey. santa cruz down to less than a half mile of visibility. here is what we're tracking, heading into this afternoon, which is why that red flag warning is now in effect. it might not look like much right now on satellite radar, but if you notice just approaching to our south is a low pressure system. that's what's going to kick you want possibility of seeing high, fast-moving storms heading into this afternoon, which is why that red flag warning will remain in effect through tomorrow. again, the biggest impact will be mainly heading into this afternoon and into monday morning. we may see a lack of rain, possibility of dry lightning with the storm's arrival. a possibility of even some precipitatio
