aishs 7 news reporter vic lee is there live tonight.'s been a rash of these crash and grabs where robbers use their cars as battering rams to get inside stores and the problem for police is that these robberies happen in the blink of an eye. they happen so quickly, the robbers are gone before police can respond. shortly before 4:00 in the morning, the red jeep cherokee smashes into the store. palo alto police agent mariana describes what happens next. >> they were wearing black hoodies and using some type of tool smashed open several jewelry glass cases and removed several items of jewelry. >> it happened quickly and the thieves were in the store no more than two minutes and five hours later a veteran officer finds a jeevp and knew exactly where to go and san francisco creek, the thief his left along with their loot. this was the second crash and grab robbery in palo alto in several months. >> the photography store was hit in mid-february, two men rammed the front-end store and pushed back the steel chain gate just enough so they could

this evening and first, she was in chinatown with the mayor and that's where abc 7 news reporter vic lee caughts up with her. vic? >> you might call this not a coffee break, but a tea break. hillary clinton sipping tea with mayor ed lee in chinatown for 45 minutes and hillary is here in san francisco to raise money for her presidential campaign. the two events that were scheduled on her calendar were not open to the press or the public so we were very surprised when we got a call from the mayor's office saying that she would be here in chinatown. she arrived at about 3:45 at the red blossom tea company. that's a tea store that's been here in chinatown for about 30 years. the owner is alice long. her father started it 30 years ago. she brought out she said her best tea for the guests. hillary clinton seemed to like the samplings, but her presence drew a huge crowd of people that grew to about 50 or 60 when they heard that she was here in chinatown. lots of excitement especially among tourist ss. >> we actually came to red blossom to get some tea and we found this by happenstance. >> i was

vic lee abc 7 news. >>> a wrong way driver has proved deadly again in the sacramento area. the chp says the man driving east on westbound 80 slammed into a lexus sedan overnight. two of the men in the sedan were killed as was the driver the pickup. the identities of the three men have not been released. 14 people have been killed in wrong-way accidents in the sacramento region since january. there have been nearly 100 collisions involving wrongway drivers in sacramento counties in the last three years. five are facing felony charges for making threats on social media. these kids are seventh graders at brighton middle school south of santa cruz. this all started on saturday when a parent saw instagram messages where the students threatened to shoot four classmates and a teacher. they arrested all five students ages 12 and 13. the brighton leaders alerted parents on sunday about this threat. >> we don't consider this a joke. we don't consider something that we take lightly. social media has created a lot of new challenges for school districts and at the same time school distr

vic lee abc 7 news. >>> a high school basketball star was shot and killed yesterday in oakland apparently by people he knew. 17-year-old ed war mcgowan played basketball for fremont high school. police say he was driving in a vehicle on gar teeled avenue when an argument broke out and mcgowan was shot and found dead on the street by police. another officer who was wounded was arrested for the shooting. a jury has found a man guilty in the 2013. an alameda county superior court jury convicted 58-year-old brandy alana today. it took less than two hours to decide alana killed 60-year-old cooke. coke disappeared in august of 2013 and her body was found in a remote area in vacaville five days later. prosecutors said alana who had 17 prior convictions likely killed coke because she was ending their 20-year off and on relationship. >>> additional charges have been filed against the south bay camp counselor. he is at the center of a child pornography investigation. abc 7 news reporter david louie joins us with the latest outside the superior court building in san jose. david? >> edgar covarrubias
