abc 7 news reporter vic lee with the story you will see only from abc 7 news. >> reporter: the attack happened in the early evening in a unit usually filled with patients who have been committed by their families or through court ordered consehvatorships. hospital administrators released this statement saying only that a napa state hospital nursing employee was injured during an aggressive incident by patient. the patient was arrested. the staff member was treated at a local hospital. workers we spoke to say the patient became irritated and fought staff who were trying to calm him down. we were told that the employee suffered a serious leg injury which required surgery at a local hospital. several others were injured trying to subdue the patient. workers tell us security at napa state is still inadequate to deal with a growing population of violent patients many of whom are criminally insane. they say there have been some security enhancements but not enough to ensure safety of the staff. some say little has changed since the murder of psych tech donna gross almost two years ago a pat

abc 7's vic lee is live now with our first look at the damage protestors did. >> that is a building behind me. 888 turk street. looks different today. occupiers took over that building in a much larger building behind it. you can just barely see that white building over there. both owned by the catholic church. there was a largely peaceful take over until a violent incident changed it all. >> police decided to clear the building because of the actions yesterday afternoon. >> the 34-year-old climbed on the roof of the building and threw metal pipes and bricks over and over again. no officer was injured and a pro testor was hid in the head. one occupier disavowed that violence. >> the actions of the people that were violent had no ties to us. we're complete nonviolent protest autos never theless that led to a tense standoff. police finally withdrew from the front of the building last night. then, at about 5:00 in the morning moving in and began making arrests. all but two were taking downtown and charged with trespassing. police say the operation was smooth. >> 26 people taken into custody w

for now, mayor lee has won a big, big victory. vic leak, abc 7 news. >> castro valley police are looking to solve a murder mist rai. routine check led officers to the body of a man inside of a home on omega avenue. and amy hollyfield tells us this is one of the most-bizarre crime scenes she's covered. >> sheriff deputies decided to do a probation check at this home after receiving calls of criminal activity in this neighborhood. they couldn't believe what they found inside. >> when they entered there was a significant amount of blood. at that time, they froze the house and discovered the body. >> the spokesman wasn't sure if anyone else was home, he says they checked other paroles and they did not target this home. >> very unusual. yes. and there is probation searches frequently. not often you can go in to find a bloody scene, then... a body to go with that. >> investigators say they don't know the cause of death or the identity of the victim. they don't think that the deceased is the person on probation who they were originally checking on. >>

abc 7 news is at the park and will have a live report after 4:30. >> that is the situation in oakland. across the bay we'll check in with vic lee live in san francisco, protestors taking over a building owned by the archdiocese of san francisco. vic? >> occupiers have taken over 888 turk street. you can see people milling around. and this is a building they took over several weeks ago. we did call them. they said they had no i'd yat building had been taken over again. and if you go over there it's almost like a festive occasion. people listening to music and milling around. they're on the streets here about an hour and one leader told them to get off the street and invited them into the house. >> this group of 200 took over this building. they hurled banners and invited others to come inside and join them. they want to make this an urban come yun. -- commune. protestors gathered to rally for immigrant rights, blocking the intersection, entertaining curious onlooker was street theater. and there is another group of mostly union workers. demonstrators used the street as their canvas. >> this is the 99% coming up. >> the protests
