here's meteorologist vicki graf. just how warm it is. >> it's already a warm start to the day and this is going to be the trend as we go throughout the afternoon. we're in the upper 50s to low 60s right now. this is normally where we see the afternoon highs this time of year. and this is going to be the springboard for what will be another warm day ahead. close to 80 degrees in some spots. now as soon as you step outside, you will notice some low clouds and a little bit of patchy fog going through the day we'll keep the clouds around today. but that's not going to be stop us from -- to stop us from warming up quickly. by 4:00 close to 77 degrees here in charlotte and also going to be windy throughout the afternoon. taking a look at the threat days the main concerns we're going to have right now allergies. if you're sneezing, sniffling, it's all thanks to the high pollen counts and that's going to stick around thanks to the strong winds from the southwest anywhere up to about 20 miles per hour throughout the day today

meteorologist vicki graf tracking the cool down that is set to happen in just a matatr of hours. vicki? >>> that cool down is headed this way this weekend. thanks to this storm system 400- miles west of the charlotte area. that's going to move in over night. throughout the night, clouds build in. waking up to showers early saturday. if you were planning a walk or a run, keep an eye to the skies. we'll track rain around 8:00. possibly a break in the activity. can't rule out a stray shower here and there through the afternoon. and then another batch of rain will push through by saturday evening. it's not going to be a wash out. but at any point on saturday, there will be that threat for rain. and it's not just the rain, it's also the cooler temperatures. we're talking by sunday, almost 20 degrees cooler than where we were this week. thatst going to help with the pollen count. lowering that a bit. but the cold air will be cold enough that we could see some snow flurries in the mountains. i'll take you through future cast to show you when that arrives, coming up. >>> thank you vicki.

vicki graf has a big warm up common day. >> plenty of sunshine already today. a beautiful start to the afternoon. temperatures are warming up it was a cooler start. right now we're 54 in charlotte. 52 concord. these temperatures just updated. 51 salisbury and 43 in boone. as we go throughout the rest of the day, we'll climb to around 60 degrees here in charlotte. that is right where we should be this time of year but i'm tracking a major warm up on the way. i'll pinpoint when we could see temperatures close to 80 degrees. >>> we are getting new details about a deadly crash that blocked several lanes this state troopers confirm a good samaritan was killed trying to help a woman with a flat tire. we brought you live pictures from the interstate this morning as officers blocked many lanes there on i-485. since then we learned a man stopped to help a woman whose tire blew out. he was standing near her car that van's driver voluntarily took a breathalyzer test and alcohol is not a factor in that accident. >>> the lincoln county sheriff's office released information

we'll look -- vicki graf will be tracking that heavy rain hickory, star town, down to the west as well. moo morganton. right around 9:00, 10:00 in the morning, but it doesn't last for ever. it's brief. moves on, and we get a break by 12:00, 2:00, and then by the afternoon hours, we'll have another pocket of showers come through. but again, it's quick. it will be rocking and rolling. i think most of the day is going to be all right. just make sure that radar with your phone is glued to you and certainly out to the west is where i am worried more about more significant downpours. as we heat up the atmosphere, showers and storms will be possible. we'll be on it right here at channel 9 and it will be on facebook live, maybe in the programming if we get a stronger storm. my thought is, that's not going to happen. high temperatures in the low to middle 70s with scattered showers and storms. certainly, if you live west of 77, that's problematic. it's a washout for you up in up and through the mountains, i'm not seeing it. if you had plans to get out on storm threat. don't cancel here. be prep
