the nearest one i believe was vicksburg. there could be something a little bit closer that i didn't know about. but i saw a very large response of ambulances and police officers coming out of the city of vicksburg, which is about 45 miles south of this town. um i ate it and, you know, kind of just keeping people try. i was able to get them to my car. get them out of the rain, as many as i could. i did not have to transport anybody because i was part of something over all hard at work trying to unburied that you know the uninterested we could find people trapped in their homes by honestly definitely have a whole lot of time. but there are other there were other goods merit in in the town, using their trucks and pieces of debris like wood to use as a back rest for people that had neck and back injuries, and they were being transported to nearby towns. i believe in vicksburg, i was actually behind one there was a gentleman holding one of the people in the back of the truck as they were. holy transporting them to fix book. i jus

we're joined on the line now by storm chaser erin rigby in vicksburg, mississippi, just south of rollingork. thanks for being here with us. i understand you arrived at the town literally, literally right after the tornado touched down. it must have been absolutely terrifying. tell me about what you saw. absolutely this tornado was one of those tornadoes that went 0 to 100. very very quickly. it started out just outside of town and probably about a mile southwest of the town before it was impacted as justice cylinder cone tornado, and it quickly grew with every lightning flash into a huge at least quarter mile wide wedge tornado and i actually didn't realize how close we were to the town and the path of the tornado was taking until it was too late when across the road in front of us. that's when i could see all the debris being lost it up into the air by all of the power flashes and the lightning. and i arrived on scene literally as the tornado had just exit town. and there was there was just a constant scream for help while it was pouring down the rain, thunder and lightning still around

so a lot of emergency services had to come from vicksburg about 45 miles away. so now it's getting a lot more organized. and they you know things are looking up here for the time being. and you've chased some storms in the past. how does this compare with what you've seen in the past? and based on the accounts you've heard from other people? what was it like being in the middle of this as it was going on? this was definitely one of the fastest developing tornadoes that i had ever documented. i've seen tornadoes to this caliber before, but they had usually are being the ongoing and on the ground for so long. this started out when we saw the initial touchdown as a small cylinder cone tornado, and within five minutes it had grown until at least a quarter mile wide wedge , very violent tornado as it unfortunately entered the town, and this was by far the most raw search and rescue that i have ever been a part of, you know a lot of times. it's a you know, a couple of quick checks here and there. hey, are you okay? yeah. okay onto the next house. this one. this was th
