it's just a sampling of what vicky put together. i do want to say thank you for taking this big risk to provide -- other cities, i have looked what the city of vancouver has done for their camp, their kids on the spectrum, and they are way ahead of a lot of cities and states, now san francisco has really come to the front and it's something i do want to -- help fundraising, whatever way we can do. i got tons of ideas. and i'd like to see the camp grow from 20 campers per week to hopefully more. just to say it would be great to have more options. this camp filled up in two days. this was in march. it went on line, bam, there was a long waiting list. it would be nice to expand the age range to include kids from 13 to 18 years old. there's many, many, many directions we can go to see this very successful project grow. this is a little three-minute clip. >> each one has a one-on-one special time for them and they follow them with the one-on-one aide and let them go on and explore themselves and we guide them. >> whoa! >> you don't want

vicky nguyen was at the hearing in washington, d.c.nd has the full report. >> reporter: good evening. washington, d.c. not always known for its straight talkers but today the ntsb could not have been more direct. investigators say it was only a matter of when that pipeline would rupture and if critical changes are not made, what sapped in san bruno will happen again. >> today, you're going to hear some troubling revelations about a company that exploited weaknesses and a lax safety system. >> reporter: investigators blasted pg&e, and state and federal agent sis that oversee it, saying all three share the blame for what happened here. >> the cause of this pipeline accident was flawed pipe, flawed operations, and flawed oversight. we saw a pipe that was installed in '56 that really was not up to standards and was not evaluated or inspected in the 50 years since it was laid. >> reporter: they also faced criticism for putting "blind trust in pg&e instead of protecting the public." >> it's not happening. >> reporter: they say they need to e

vicky put together marvelous program. had some special tents just for kids. when meltdowns did occur because kids with autism often like being in closed areas. they feel safer. and a lot of the typical camp, why can't i have autism? i want to go into that tent, too. so i would like to just tell you a couple of the benefits and play a three-minute video on it. it of course prior to this year those four weeks were summertime in general are really difficult for parents. if you have a child with autism, you really do have to dedicate your life to that. my wife -- very successful venture capitalist, but she had to let that go for a while to take care of her boy. here, sally, very successful lawyer, with her boy, jonah, had to let that career go for a while. she's come whack to it. -- back to t it's a full-time job. what do you do in the summertime? we don't see autism in san francisco so much because the kids and their parents are in their homes. the kids don't want to go out. they feel threatened by unknown spaces. parents are exhausted. they are overwhelmed. and

we begin with vicki nguyen. who attend the hearing. vicki, the ntsb cited it all. >> reporter: scathing words from the ntsb today, jessica. they said the pipeline rupture represented failure at every level from pg & e installation of substandard piping and welds. the federal agency to make sure pipelines are safe was not doing its job. today the ntsb determined the coughs this pipeline accident was flawed pipe, flawed operations, and flawed oversight. >> reporter: the ntsb's final word, substandard pipe joined by substandard welds were ignored by pg & e for 50 years. allowing for the explosion that killed eight people in san bruno. but if something good can come from the fire bomb it its the ntsb report demanding regulators and operators like pg & e change the way we work. >> we saw they had bad records. they saw bad data. you cannot run a performance-based system with garbage in, you will get garbage out. >> reporter: the ntsb wants real investments into automatic and remote control valves that can shut off gas within minutes. >> thei

tonight, nbc bay area's vicky nguyen takes us in depth and investigates whether these screenings areorth the time and money and most importantly, whether they lead to better health. >> reporter: flyers like this one are landing in mailboxes all across the bay area. they feature a testimonial from a grandmother of five who says a stroke screening service saved her life. it's a dramatic statement used in advertisements from lifeline screening. the company sets up thousands of mobile screening services at churches and community centers across the country. no doubt a stroke is a serious and scary condition, but many doctors question whether these mass screenings do more harm than good. >> i really worry that this kind of companies are exploiting the fears of people. >> reporter: they offer five screenings for $149. for that, you get ultrasounds and an ekg. three weeks later you get your results. according to government reports, these types of ultrasounds can have a high right of false positives, leading to additional tests. that worries dr. choi. >> the additional tests that need to be d
