. >> i'm vicky nguyen. let's get to cakari hall. it is more accurate because you can move this vehicle around and figure out exactly where the hot spots are. >> right, and we parked it on the mountain in san bruno to get the best view of the north bay all the way down to the south bay and over toward the east bay. we are scanning this with our mobile doppler radar truck and seeing what it looks like as the rain comes out of the clouds, and we're picking up a line of bright red and yellow showing the most intense rain moving through at this point. you see there, on the radar, it once again is picking up on the heaviest rain over san francisco and also just to the south of there, over toward parts of the north bay and extending into the east bay. fairfield right now also getting in on very heavy downpours. so we will continue to go around the bay area. also wanted to keep you up to date that both northbound and southbound 101 near windsor has been closed. we're seeing that there's some flooding there. cars in water, and is going to ca

i'm vicky nguyen we're in a microclimate weather the national wea s >>> good morning, i'm vickie wynn. we are in a microclimate weather alert. the national weather service issued a flash flood warning in the loma fire burn area in the santa cruz mountains. officials are calling it a life-threatening situation. they're telling anyone living or planning to travel through the area to be extremely alert. for the rest of the weather story we bring in meteorologist kari hall. >> we will see waves of rain but tracking now spotty light showers and next round of heavy rain moving in. we had heavy downpours earlier this morning. we are seeing the rain return to the san francisco area, moving toward oakland, and there will be spotty showers until this round of some very heavy rain. also we are seeing the live lightning strikes detected by radar. that will be here early afternoon. we will keep you up to date with the latest on that tracking the next round of storms moving in, which at this point looks to be very strong. ♪ >>> that's our show for this week. my thank to guests, if you are turning i

i'm vicky nguyen. ==scott//2 shot== and i'm scott mcgrew -- sam and kris are off today. that kayaker was last seen by his friend more than 18 hours ago. scott/cu he had a flotation device in his boat.. but his friend says kenneth maldanado of san jose was not wearing a life vest when his kayak flipped over and that water is very cold. boxes joins us live from fremonts near the dumbatron bridge and pete.you just spoke with officials. what's the latest? ==pete/live== search operations resumed this morning shortly assisting with this search. now, we spoke with fremont fire, one of those agencies, and they tell us that a grid is being created around the southern part of the bay when it comes to the search for maldonado. this mission was called in as a water rescue yesterday around 4:30 p.m. by the friend of maldonado who was in the raft and in the water and turned around and noticed his kayak was upside down in the water with only a flotation device in sight. now, i want to point out the fremont fire says the kayak has been recovered. in fact, here to give us an update. >> s

two weeks ago she told nbc bay area's vicky nguyen she needs help. she as well as others who wouldn't go on camera say they received cash assistance hours after the fire from the red cross which distributed money from a fund led by the a's warriors and raiders. the gray area has provided no money. >> they kind of just didn't seem to get it. >> reporter: that surprised us because the gray area founder said she enlisted the red cross to help manage the fund. >> this is what they do, we're not going to tree to reinvent the wheel. >> reporter: they opted to manage the fund itself on its own schedule. >> i would like to have seen an immediate handout. >> reporter: we've been asking gray area for information for weeks. today the founder agreed to a follow-up interview. she confirmed all the money is sitting idle in a bank account. >> we haven't spent a dime. >> reporter: she said she has heard people's concerns, but assures them the gray area is beginning to approve applications. >> eventually we'll be getting a check the next couple of days to weeks. so,
