and katie nichol and victoria arbiter are joining me as well. max, there was a four-hour gap between the baby's birth and the public announcement. what happened during that time? >> i was told by a royal aide they just wanted to spend time together with the baby, the couple. they went through this all on their own. william was there throughout the labor, he's staying in the hospital overnight, as you can see, the weather's back to normal here in the u.k., the sun was never going to last long. but tomorrow morning there will be hope for some sunshine, because we're expecting william to come out and say a few words tomorrow morning. and after that he will come out with his wife and baby. i mean, some people suggested it could be later, all the indications are, because the labor went so well, everyone's on good form, we'll see them tomorrow morning. >> are there sort of official celebrations at all planned? >> tomorrow morning our time, a whole list of military engagements will be announced. i have some details of that, it's not being announced unt

victoria arbiter joins us from new york. she's a royal commentator for cnn.fer an interesting perspective here because you actually sort of grew up in ken did sington palace. tell me, from your experience what will it be like for william and kate's baby growing up royal? >> kensington palace is a very lovely location, it's near high street and kate likes to pop down to go shopping and it's on the edge of kensington garden and there's a large park on the far end is a pirate playground, there's a big pirate ship which is a playground in memory of diana princess of wales and i'm sure william will like to take the baby up there. to give it some perspective it's like a melrose place sort of idea that the duke. duchess of kent, the duke and duchess of gloucester, prince and princess michael of kent and prince harry all live there, it's a little community but it feels very homely although it's in the center of london. >> being a royal is anything but normal, but it has been reported that kate actually wants a normal childhood for her baby. but let's be real, is that

let's talk about all things royal with victoria arbiter from new york. hello, victoria.re not able to join me. >> we're there in spirit. >> that's where you always are. let's talk about this name. big debate over what his name should be, the significance of the name, whatever they pick. what is your guess? what do you think they are considering when they're choosing this name? >> i definitely think they're going to stay doing what royals do, which is choosing a name with a sense of history and continuity. all the current titled members of the royal family born into the royal family have such a name, ann, edward, andrew, margaret, you see the traditional names come to the forefront. but there are a lot of kings and princes. there are a plethora of names they could choose. george is the favorite, phillip is a firm favorite, especially since we don't have a girl to honor elizabeth. and frances, diana's middle name. francis with "is" is michael middleton's middle name. my guess is the long shot would be arthur. it's trendy and cool again but it is still very royal. >> what d

we also want to bring in victoria arbiter to talk more about this aspect of it.eth kind of is laying out, there are differences between birth and labor between the united states and the united kingdom. there's also -- there's a lot of tradition, there has been, breaking of tradition, when it comes to royal births. where babies are born. >> the queen is actually the only monarch to have the distinction of being born in a house with a number on the door. she was born at the home of her maternal grandparents. of course, when she was born she wasn't expected to be the queen. william, of course, was the first heir to be born in a hospital. there have subsequently been nine babies delivered at st. mary's all within the royal family. we're following in a little bit of tradition here. i think it's nice for kate to be able to be in a hospital and not worry about breaking protocols. of course, william and kate are going to be keen to leave hospital as quickly as possible. really just to get back to normal, to calm things down in the hospital, even though she's in a private

. >>> let's bring in our royal commentator victoria arbiter and kate williams.>> it's a name as max said that's full of history. there's the queen's father who she adored. and this entire dynasty of which elizabeth and william and kate and now little prince george are apart of. they were all started off by king george in 1714 when he came over from germany to govern england when there was no heir. it was nonstop george. there was a long period that was the georgian history. i think it's ideal for what this international figure, this exciting young man, this future king, he's got one foot in the future and one foot in the past. it's just perfect for him. >> and the name louis victoria, it's one of william's middle names, if you will. do you think they picked louis in part to name him after william? >> i think there's a little bit more than that. louis is william's name and he was name after his uncle and he was a much adored member of the family. i think it's a nice way to be honoring prince philip's side of the family. also he had a grandfather couldcould called

. >>> we want to talk more with victoria arbiter, commentator and daughter of the queen's former press a long time wondering what would it be and we have the name prince george alexander louis. what do you make of the name? >> i think where they've been smart is they've given this child its own identity while three names that are laden in british family reference and history. but you have to -- george is an obvious one, patriot saint of england, but alexander, thinking of the queen's middle name being alexandra, three former kings of scotland were named alexander but the important name is louis, it is william's middle name but louis was mount batten, charles' grand uncle the man he called his honorary grandfather. he was assassinated by the i.r.a. in 1989 which left a gaping hole in charles' life. i think they've paid tribute and homage to charles. >> for us we normally get named in the hospital before we leave. this is considered a pretty quick announcement of the naming. what do you make of that? >> really i think william is very keen for everyone to go back to normal, even at the ho
