. >> joining us now for more victoria elliott platforms and power reporter at wired. o victoria, you have new reporting on doj's activity at the treasury, where they have been called a, quote, insider threat. tell me more about that. >> yeah. >> so this was. >> a sort of internal analysis by analysts who have been were hired by the treasury, who suggested that doge members, if they were to return to treasury, obviously, this was sort of in the interim where it appeared that the doge member, who was apparently accessing the data in the treasury system, had been had resigned, um, that the recommendation was that doge members be treated like insider threats and put under monitoring because of their access to sensitive data. and, um, you know, the possible harm from that. >> so, you know, a judge ruled over the weekend that they can no longer access that treasury system. do we know if they're abiding by that? >> we don't right now. um, you know, i think the the sort of statements made by vice president vance and musk over the weekend sort of indicating that they don't agre

victoria elliott, i appreciate you guys both joining me right now. victoria, i want to start with you. you have been very frustrating for me personally with all of the news that you've broken on this front, which has made it more difficult for me on a day to day basis. >> apologies. >> yeah. it's okay. what you have found and what you've been reporting on, particularly in terms of the teams that are at these agencies. and i think that they have been kind of moving agency to agency. it's tough to track them at some point. what stands out to you about what you've been told? yeah. >> so i think the biggest thing is as. wired sort of first reported, people in the general services administration, which controls a ton of stuff for the government, whether that's, you know, its actual property or, you know, deals with this, i.t. systems that people in these agencies didn't necessarily know who was being brought in. sometimes they were on calls with people whose names they didn't recognize. and one instance that we know of didn't even have a government email o

victoria elliott. victoria, i was speaking to a source close to all of this who said, elon musk has just been laser focused on this effort. he's been in washington for weeks, which is unusual. and they're really on a mission here. and you have some new reporting about the access that this team has had at the treasury. tell us about that. >> yeah. so initially our reporting found that one of the young doge engineers who had previously worked for x, um, appeared to have access to the treasury's payment systems and to con and to sort of offer some context on that. the treasury is responsible for around 5 trillion plus dollars of payments a year. these specific systems, you know, if you like getting your tax returns on time and things like that, these systems are critical to that. and not only did this person have what's known as read access, where you can actually go in and read the code and sort of do auditing there. they also had write access, which means they could actually go in and change the code. an
