after the mass, they introduced themselves and said they are relatives of father vincent capodanno and they would like to invite me home for dinner. his father immigrated in 1901 and sailed across to brooklyn. he never left those roots. but it wasn't until i attended the summer retreat, thinking about the retreat hosted by the military diocese and they talked about the lives of heroic military chaplains who served in the armed services and one of those heroic chaplains was father vincent capodanno. when i came back to new york city and i went through the yellow pages looking for the capodanno name, i came across the name of james capodanno when i called, he said, yes, i'm the brother of vincent capodanno. i went to his home and they adopted me as one of their sons and people would prepare a meal for me and sit down with me and also encouraged me to pursue god's call as a priest. i felt a great sense of support and love. i was ordained a priest in 2016. i also served as a chaplain candidate in the united states navy. i'm happy to be able to serve alongside them, to make that sacrifice,
