this week, saints vincent de paul opened the summer camp, giving homeless children to have fun and keeping during the summer. >> reporter: summer camp starts at saint vincent's, which has been giving back to the community for more than 100 years. but this camp is special. it's designed for homeless and transitional children. >> helping them to deal with the fact they're living in the shelters, i think, being able to, able to cope, being ability to come to an environment where they know hey, i have people that care about me, i have people that are like me, and people that know how to deal with issues i'm going through. >> reporter: the children experiencing a host of issues due to circumstances. that's why the camp was so important. hoping children gain self-esteem, and volunteers come from 12 area high schools. >> their definition of hope is overexcitement, smiling, always being cheerful. >> this is 17-year-old sydney's third year volunteering. she's on her way to college in philadelphia to study. >> i enjoy seeing their faces and how happy they are. it's just really, it warms my heart
