that is the virginia beach fishing pier. you look at the very end, you can see the waves, which are massive waves, coming up towards the shore and they're just coming in one by one and they are continuing to grow, continuing to intensify. the one thing that has really not changed in the past three or four hours has been how far up these waves have encroached closer to the boardwalk. they have receded just a little bit. so some good news there. if you look, though, along the boardwalk, you will see, as we wipe our lens, you'll see some of that sand that already started washing up. it washed up along the board walk. it washed up along the bike path, which is starting to flood again as well. earlier this morning they had flooded, it receded and again it is back up. so we are continuing to monitor the conditions here. i want to again reiterate to folks who think they can come drive out here and take a look at it officers are continuing to patrol the boardwalk. they're stopping folks as they drive up, telling them to go back, so

they are in virginia beach at the operations center. i went to virginia beach, norfolk and hampton yesterday. they are regularly in touch with dominion and the other co-ops that serve the region. we're expecting far more than the 114,000 or so reported. it's actually up to about 150,000 as of noon. the problem is, of course, north carolina and maryland and other neighboring states are going to have their own problems. so we'll have to have people from other places if we need extra capacity. dominion's already planning on that. i've gotten personal calls from governor perry in texas and the governor in florida to say, we're here to help you. i have to say, for our residents, they need to know that despite the great efforts of these power companies who will be out even during the storm, that it may take days to restore all of the power or longer, depending on how many outages we have and people need to be patient. they need to help one another, be good neighbors. hopefully they've got ice or can buy ice after the storms and do everything

that's about over to the east of virginia beach. the problem is that we will have such a wind field. so just like kind of pushing water around and around and around. you start to pile up the water. that could actually be a wind driven surge all the way into parts of chesapeake. a lady back towards delaware into and you could see -- everybody has been asking me what about philadelphia. and the issue has not been talked about much because you are just far enough to get 69 mile per hour winds. certainly not the eye. the big threat of all of this as we get rid of the winds, the biggest threat will be the rainfall potential. the biggest potential for damage would be flooding. the rugged rough areas. ten inches of rainfall there is the threat there. long island sound there. that all is going to to have to go one place and that will be the east river. the east river goes up. you get to williamsburg, you get water there and that's right where laguardia is. water is trying to rush from two separate directions and you can't do it very long wi
