[ applause ] >> what a beautiful day to open a museum. good morning, and welcome, this new campus is an incredible gift from the philinthropic community and beyond. visitors of all ages, dan, all ages, and backgrounds will come here by the millions to nurture their curiosity. science teachers in the bay area and around the country will call it their professional home, artists will continue to collaborate with scientists here. and science education institutions around the world will benefit from the research and the innovation that will occur here. this has been a true journey, long, and rewarding. a culmination of years and planning and hard work, not just by the exporatorium staff and board, about whom i can't say enough. [ applause ] but also by the city and the state including many of you here today. the exporatorium is really all about collaboration. collaborativive learning, collaborative decision-making and

this vision. it put a lot of resources at least 3 mayors were infected and the assembly and the senate and then loots at least two governors and federally 3 president's. and about warrior goddess women we have the senate infected by this determination and the vision. and then the armed services the united states navy of america. can you believe that the vision and the determination so all one person or maybe 20 thousand can say oh, i'm home. i'm home. it's been an honor to be part of that. thank you all of you and thank everyone who will be and was a part of this thank you. so, there is a negotiation around, if you will, moving their vision into something that was acceptable for historic preservation. sometimes they want to have a person per square foot that triggers a requirement for a new bathroom or some other thing that we don't have in our old warehouses and that has to be built out and there is a negotiation around who will pay for that. sometimes there are [speaker not understood]. it starts out as photo storage and turns into a museum. so, everything happens. there isn't any one thing i can point to, but if you realery seeking a way to streamline them, maybe what we should look at is what the delegated authorities are for negotiating more broadly around terms in the [speaker not understood]. >> i'd like to do that. if it's on the lease side, if i'm applying for a lease to the port and you guys want a pink piece of paper, it's up to me to get it and get it quick. [inaudible] >> that is a good question. unfortunately it's a tricky question because the question was where we going to meet in late charles? what we are already finding is just this idea. the media of course frames it as as -- and there's no such thing as bad press. that's not the way we look at it. we look at it as a church service that focuses on secular values without any hint towards supernaturalism. the problem we are running into is that there is so much backlash within the lake charles community that it's difficult to find someone that we can pay our deposit to and know for a fact that they are going to let us come in and have service whenever all the protesters show up. so we are trying to work that out. we will have our first service in lake charles at the end of august.

that day, martin achieved greatness because he melded the hopes and dreams of millions into a grand vision of healing, reconciliation and brotherhood. the dream my brother shared with our nation and world on that sweltering day, a day 50 years ago, continues to further clear and sustain nonviolent activists nurture and sustain nonviolent activists worldwide in that struggle for freedom and human rights. in deed, this gathering provides a powerful testament of hope and proof positive that martin's great dream will live on in the hearts of humanity for generations to come. our challenge as followers of martin luther king jr. is to now honor his life, leadership and legacy by living our lives in a legacy by living our lives in a way that carries forward the unfinished work. there is no better way to honor his sacrifices and contributions than by becoming champions of nonviolence. in our homes, communities and places of work, worship and learning wherever, every day. the dream martin shared on that day a half century ago remains a definitive statement of the american dream, the beautiful visio
