we have visitacion valley, here, and also in the excelsior. so for example, in the visitacion valley, we have office hours although community centers and senior centers. primarily the speakers in visitacion valley are cantonese speakers. i'm very fortunate like i was saying, i have foot beat officer johnny wong who is bilingual. he reaches out to the public, speaks to them in cantonese, sees what their concerns are and how he can help in the community. he also, if needed, completes incident reports out in the field regarding the individuals' needs. he also reaches out by providing public safety seminars and crime prevention strategies with s.f. state so i'm grateful for that. it's a great program. in addition, we have the visitacion valley elementary school reading with the kids program. so this is right here. visitacion valley, we establish this new program here with officer brittney lewis, gordon brown and cal, great partners in the community. they read to the kids there. it's a great program like i said. it's getting better. very nice progr

visitacion valley is not an area per se. it was created by then supervisor maxwell and created by the community to help leverage funds out of expects intense development and executive park. revenue has not been coming in on that project area. essentially, it includes the hope s.f. sunnyvale site. development has not happened as quickly as we had anticipated in viz valley, so what we've been doing is going out in the community every year, kind of chewing up projects when the income does come in. we're still waiting for it, and there are a series of improvements on visitacion valley, leading up from tthe p. we're creating a new c.a.c. specifically for soma. that has not yet been seated. we anticipate seeing that seated in april, and we'll start working with them. also, as i noted, all of our fees have to be justified by nexus studies. we're currently underway in reuping our nexus study, and so we look to be completing that also in the spring and the summer. after that, this whole process starts again where we look at our proje

i'm a school district nurse at visitacion valley middle school. [applause] i'm also the parent of a child at burton and another child at denman. so we are all on the south side or southeast. our students, our families and staff deserve a lot. we deserve fully-funded wellness centers including full-time nurses in these wellness centers. social workers to be continued to be funded, therapists and counselors. but we are in a district that wants to make $26 million in cuts, taking away resources that are necessary from our students and from our families. schools in the south and southeast side are going to be disproportionately affected by cuts and lay offs. as i said, i'm the school district nurse. like most other middle school nurses, the district only funds my time 50% of the time at the school site. the burden of the rest of my time to help my school site falls directly on my school site. i work with students from many backgrounds from many different countries. 40% of the kids were born in a country not the united states. 27% of those students lis
