it happened around 1:00 this morning between snell avenue and vista park drive. one man died after he was taken to the hospital and another man has life-threatening injuries. police are still working to learn what may have caused the crash and whether speed could have played a role. this marks the 27th deadly crash in san jose. this year. by the beginning of july of last year, there were 38 deadly crashes. several law enforcement agencies across the bay area say they will continue to work together to try and prevent sideshows and street racing in the east bay. the chp, the alameda county sheriff's office, along with the hayward and san leandro police departments, say they are working together to target sideshows on a monthly basis. the last group effort happened in hayward on july 8th. on that night, police say they stopped 82 drivers, issued 35 citations, towed 12 cars and arrested 14 people. they also seized two guns. well antioch police chief steven ford announced he is retiring next month. the news comes as the police department continues to deal with the fal
