[music playing] i work for a virtual program with preferred family health care and it provides services to young people. it is technology based. it is in a 3-d environment and it gives them the flexibility of having convenience. it addresses transportation difficulties from mainstream outpatient treatment and it gives them the opportunity to access resources for their recovery process anytime that they choose. our virtual world program is for the adolescent, age ranges from 18 to 28. and it's online, virtual world counseling, so you can do individual sessions as well as group sessions at your accessibility. so anytime that you are available to do sessions, it's kind of at your fingertips. our premise has not ever been that virtual treatment would be better than traditional treatment. it has always been to be able to provide treatm

for substance abuse prevention, substance abuse and mental health services administration, u.s. department of health and human services, rockville, maryland; john shinholser, president, mcshin foundation, richmond, virginia; pat taylor, executive director, faces & voices of recoveryshington, d.c. fran, why is there a need to increase public awareness and support related to mental and substance use disorders? it's a good question because many people are thinking that they've seen way too much information on this, and, in fact, what we have learned is that we have to get the message out so people understand the facts. they understand that substance abuse and mental health disorders are-is just another chronic illness or problem in the public health realm, and we want-as we move closer to health reform, we want the american public to understand that where we fit into overall health and general medicine. so we're-we need to get the message not only to parents, not only to young people, but to schools, to faith-based organizations, to communities, to businesses. every piece of america needs to understand how substance abuse and mental health fits in overall health. and arthur, there are, indeed, many aspects of that message, aren't there? i mean, you know, fran mentio

voice coming from within the rubble screaming, i'm alive, i'm alive, please rescue me. you can imagine the recovery workers were there to pull out dead bodies. that's what they've been doing forhe past 17 days. instead, hearing this faint voice they were able to pinpoint exactly where she was, and they pulled her out, as we see there on the screen there right now, amazing. hundreds of people gather on the scene, including military personnel, and officials who then put her on a stretcher, and rushed her to a military hospital. the bangladeshi military official and the chief coordinator also rescue operation has told cnn that he believes she may be in her 20s, and this is the incredible part, john. he doesn't think she has, from what he was able to see, initially, that she doesn't appear to have any major injuries right now. as there was no bleeding on the outset. and she was able to communicate with people. in fact, the prime minister of bangladesh even was able to call her and she spoke to the prime minister. so incredible, incredible story of is your viefral there. 17 days without food and water, and she is alive. john? >> more than 1,000 people killed in that disaster. this
