>>reporter: thanks vytas. this is a very big system and a lot of watches and warnings with this stem so let's go ahead and get to all the watches and warnings. pink area indicates the winter storm warning. look at that. almost 4 or effective states with this system that is so entirely large. now zooming down a little bit closer to our immediate gma you see the winter storm warning covering the entire state of maryland but the red year connecticut blaze arrested warning. that is going to inform into effect at 10:00 o'clock tonight and run through all the way through 10:00 p.m. tomorrow so blizzard conditions will be into effect overnight tonight and how much snow are we going to see from this system. here updated snow total. 20 to 30 inch. we could see 2 to 3 feet of snow very historic snow fall is possible with this system. we have a more indepth look at the system and how long it stay ins our region coming up in a few minutes. >>> all right thanks. it has been snowing since noon and only going to get worse. k

chief meteorologist vytas reid joins us with a closer look at the winter blast. vytas? >> lots of snowfall coming downtown dealing with winds. and that will happen overnight. right now looking at baltimore city. arlington, snowfall for you. 28.9. gwynn oak 13. pimlico 13. heeldersburg 24. line ofboro 23. queen ann's county, almost 11 inches. harford county, fallston, 19.5. edgewood, 15. belair 11.3. and we get to baltimore county. glyndon 22 inches. free land 21. parkton. parkville at 18.8. and bwi official number. from the airport. looking at 19.5. green haven at 17.5. southgate 16.2. crofton at 12.8. and howard county. which was the hardest hit from the last storm. jared gaither 20. savage 18. elkridge, 38.8. previous storm. 16.5. so a lot of snow but mother nature gave you a break. we are looking at the snow leaving. we will continue to see the snow breaking up. light snow showers and winds a factor out of the northwest. blowing from 20 to 25. gusting to 40 at times. and still looks like remaining blizzard warning at this time is out in garrett county. western portio

chief meteorologist vytas reid has a closer look at the latest winter blast. we have to start naming the winter blasts and numbering them. >> kind of like hurricanes. talking about another winter blast, third of the season. right now, decent snowfall coming down heavy across baltimore and dc. zooming out the picture. dry wedge behind the last little wave pushed through. but followed by the secondary low. so the other system pushes in behind the low. and secondary system is actually going to intensify. out over the atlantic. creating very gusty winds that we will have to deal with through the morning and afternoon. winter storm warnings from boston. dc. boston, detroit, cleveland, chicago. everyone hammered. but we are getting the worst of it. around baltimore area down to d.c.. looks like the hardest hit. and further areas north. as far as how much snowfall we can see. timing shows heavy snow through tonight. and behind it more snow mid-morning, afternoon and winds are a factor tomorrow. so how much snow are we talking about? 14 to 20 plus inches across baltim

chief meteorologist vytas reid joins us with a closer look at the winter blast. vytas? >> round three here we go. heavy snowfall is coming down across pretty much most of the state right now. eastern shore though, southeast of salisbury, ocean city. looking a at a mixing in taking place down this. put it in motion. bright white shows the heavy snow going along the 95 corridor. signing out. we see that we have one area of low pressure south. and that will continue to track up and wrap in the moisture. but then we have the second low that will continue to head our direction. by tomorrow morning, that will intensify out over the atlantic. and that will be actually picking up the winds creating blizzard like conditions. and also bringing more snowfall. so this is not a good situation. winter storm warnings from new york city, all the way down the eastern seaboard. stretching back through the midwest. over pittsburg, back to mick michigan and this is a major storm that is affecting a lot of people. once again, we're included in this. until 7 p.m. wednesday. as we have the po

chief meteorologist vytas reid joins us with more on tonight's winter blast. vytas? >> well, jeff, once again, we're at it with mother nature giving us r more snow. we are expecting to see this season a snowyer season and we are getting it. our composite shows snow coming down around the city. towson, pair he hall, psychicsville, northern portion of the state. and we will continue to see the activity coming down for the next several hours. down toward dc, annapolis, and crossing the bay in easton. mixed bag there and over toward chestertown. but we can see off off to the western edge. west chester and hagerstown. dry line working in. but several miles of snow to deal with through the overnight. so it looks like several inches continue to come down. that's why westbound under a winter storm warning four central maryland. including baltimore city. stretching down to 95 corridor to d.c.. counties west of the baltimore county area. and frederick county. and also in to harford county. we have win ter weather advisories across the bay, including cecil. this is the forecast

chief meteorologist vytas reid joins us with a look at the winter blast on the way. vytas? >> jennifer and jeff, this could make pretty big mess around the area. this is a big storm in the brewing, down south. we have been watching it for a few days here. this storm pushing out of texas, and parts after of new mexico. two areas of low pressure, that will be tracking across the mid section of the country. so we have a lot of areas that will be involved with this potential snowfall a. as it pushes in. the teenage of the storm is on friday, mid afternoon. mid-morning, to afternoon. into the evening. so it looks like it will come down good friday rush hour on the commute home. friday night. and then through saturday morning. saturday afternoon. and tapers off saturday evening. but national weather service has issue a winter storm watch, for all of central maryland, including baltimore city. down toward dc and western maryland. northern virginia are. and this watch stretches all the way back over parts of west virginia, hoe he hoe, into indiana. so a lot of folks will be affecte
