they're now apparently on broadway, these pictures coming from wabc. it's -- there have been some arrests. earlier we are told, trying to get our correspondent in there on broadway right now. we'll bring that to you as soon as we have it. brian todd here in baltimore has been out with marchers all evening. he joins us now. a very different scene right now than the one last night. what are you seeing, brian? >> very different scene from last night, anderson. but it was very dynamic, just a short time ago. this is penn station in baltimore. this was both the starting and ending point for the most dynamic march we have seen since we have been covering this in more than a week. we have a small police presence, a dozen officers remaining here. these guys are about to leave. this is where it started at this plaza, right in front of penn station, where there had to have been several hundred, very easily more than 1,000 marchers, earlier today. they marched through the street of baltimore to city hall. they were made up mostly of college students, students fro

we get more from wabc's jim dolan. >> the curfew went into the effect at 10:00 and it wasn't long afterh grenades into one crowd in order to disperse the people there. some protesters fired back with bottles and rocks and even kicked the cans back towards police all on a night that had started with some residents trying to calm the streets themselves. with the baltimore police forming a heavily armed and determined line backed by heavier hardware and armored vehicles, it looked like baltimore might be headed for another tense and maybe violent night. then something remarkable happened. >> we are here to represent peace. we don't want no more unrest in the city. >>> a group of african-american men. >> we're trying to protect our city. >> reporter: and some women formed a line of their own between protesters and police. they locked arms and slowly together peacefully but firmly started to advance to move the protesters back. >> we're basically a buffer between the protesters and police to ensure no one on this side gets hurts, no one on that side gets hurt. not everyone was in so concilia
