have a number of items from the veterans history project throughout but particularly irving green wald. i believe he was a printer in his life before the war. he meticulously narrated his experience at the front. he's part of the lost battalion which actually wasn't lost but in truth isolated from the allies and do find a way to make it out. so we're really proud to have this item, particularly one because he provides a very cogent and descriptive experience of what it was like up to that point, but also because they are physical remnants of a war that we fear is being forgotten, despite the fact it's had large effects, particularly on civil rights, women's rights and the military as we know it today. that being said, it is worth highlighting a couple of other things. here you have a number of -- these were recently acquired and given to the library. these are just postcards of african-american soldiers. now, this is common for both white and african-american soldiers. you often have pictures taken and then these pictures converted into postcards. some of these are taken domestically,
