i think it's important for us to make it into walkable, bikeable, and that is our goal. think that is shared by the design team as well, to make this into a new neighborhood that is in fact very walkable and bikeable. where you can get around, it's an island, without the use of a car. and so i applaud you for making the changes and i know that there was a lot of adjustments to the bikeway and the type of bike lanes there were. and again, as you look at these new street scapes, maybe think again about how to make that even better for those pedestrians and bicycles. some streets are only six feet wide, some go up to eight. but again, in those areas where there is going be a lot of pedestrians, you might want to think about how you might make those sidewalks wider, maybe if you take away a lane for parking, it becomes available for that pedestrian space. it's something that you can look at. the other thing i'm concerned about is the clipper cove avenue. which is really one of the major streets that is going to be on the island. and it's right along the cove. and it's going

having been to hong kong and singapore, which are much more dense cities they still feel livable and walkable and they have a combination of a lot of, from the time you land in the airport you see nothing but highrises but at the same time you still see trees and greenery and in singapore there's a sense of calm. we have to be realistic about the future and we always complain about traffic congestion but if people can live here, right, if we can actually build enough housing where people to live here you would take cars off the road like in those cities. surprisingly traffic isn't as bad as you think it would be. it's actually rush hour in singapore, it didn't bad. which was surprising considering how dense it is. we have to be creative and we have to think about a vision and we often think that we're only san francisco is in the situation that we're in and you could be other areas in the world where they've done it effectively. we know it can be done we have to believe it can be done and not let old thinking limit us from reaching the potential of our future. >> thank you. >> do i have a sec

aspects of san francisco and its neighborhoods and the commonalities that we find where there's walkability and there's that pedestrian scale. san francisco's neighborhoods are all woven from a different texture, and we want to draw out those different aspects of them and bring them to the shipyards, so when we go there, we can think of it as one of our favorite places in san francisco. we want it to feel when you go to the shipyard, you're a part of san francisco, but it's also something special that's been formed by that district, so this is the thinking that went into the d for d, and i'll get into the planning of the d for d itself. this is the overall plan that shows the district, the artist's building and the north shoreline district which is primarily residential type buildings to the north. this plan illustrates in a bit more detail some of the key aspects of the site. there's the green room in the center, which is an urban scale park with -- framed by large buildings, the -- one of the existing buildings that you saw the photo of, and i'll show you it again later. new buildings aro
