and i actually got into writing for the wall street journal, a place i hadworked at the beginning of my career . when i had just delivered my fourth out of five babies, i was contacted by the wall street journal and they need somebody in canada which is where i was to write a little piece about there was a dispute between the canadian government and a mennonite community over how to discipline children. a subject by the way i had some knowledge of that point. so there i was, i was the day after the baby was born they needed 800 words on this topic and i thought i can write that started this relationship at the wall street journal. so i then wrote for the editorial pages, i wrote for heads, i wrote for the books pages increasingly. interestingly one of the books they gave me was madonna's children's book . which was called the english roses, it was from her, she wrote it. that was my first experience reviewing a children's book . then when the paper opened up , they launched their weekend section in 2000. i guess it launched in the fall of 2005 they asked me the summer before if i'd be
