walmart's a lower end store.ustomer is a $30,000 a year customer. >> isn't it about 95% of the products the same? walmart and target. socks, bounty paper towels. i know they've got some special deals. but the two, it seems like the products seem to be the same, no? bert, you agree. >> and courtney, you have a point on that as well. >> i guess i do. i think there are certain things to what herb said earlier that walmart does well and certain things target does well. and they're not necessarily the same. so it's hard to say who wins. i think target is better with the exclusive collections and better at apparel. that's an area walmart has always struggled in. i don't think they're ever going to chip away at target in a meaningful way to take that shopper away from target. a lot of those skews are similar. you can get the toothpaste at both places. and in that category, walmart wins every time. why would i pay more for it if i don't have to? >> no one wants to pay more if they don't have to. >> but look at cash flow

walmart's critics say walmart has the world's most sophisticated global supply chain.s what's going on in every nook and cranny. it must have known. >> jennifer: one of the ways they have said that they are monitoring this is by using an industry-led group. you reported on the other factory fire that broke out in pakistan and that factory monitoring group gave that pakistan plant a passing grade on international labor standards but the monitoring system itself is funded by the corporations getting monitored. how effective could a system like that be? >> we have -- system is broken in several ways. first the governments of pakistan and bangladesh do little in terms of monitoring or ensuring factory safety. they're so eager to lure to encourage, to entice companies like walmart and sears and disney and h & m that they kind of look the other way so with many western consumers upset if factories are dangerous or have minimum wage violations, the companies have helped set up this compliance system to monitor factories. and again some worker advocates, labor advocates say th

we had a lot of discussions around walmart. >> walmart officials rarely go on camera and haven't since the shootings. none of the guns used in the shootings were purchased at walmart. the sheer number of guns the company sells is always a sensitive topic. although they don't sell guns on their website, it does list them there and directs customers to stores that sell them. after the shootings, they removed one from their website, the bushmaster ar-15 it is, however, still available for purchase in stores. has the decision been made to sell as many guns now as before the incidents in connecticut? >> we think it's important to strike the right balance between being able to serve our customers and also sell firearms in the most responsible manner possible. >> as many today as before the incident, though? >> that's correct. >> we went inside a walmart today where we did see an ample supply of semiautomatic weapons available, although the bushmaster ar-15 was sold out. i asked what conversations they have had since the murders. >> this week we've had a lot of conversations internally and ex

walmart has stopped selling some. we see the private hedge fund behind the maker of the gun that the killer and the newtown incident used, state that they're going to try to sell the company and get out of the firearms business. so this is really a watershed moment. i think the nra is really on its heels which is why i argue that we really need to work strongly to marginalize the nra and to recognize what a radical fringe group it's become over the last generation. >> eliot: i wanted to come back in a moment to how one can do that because i think that's exactly right. how to reveal to the public that they are a fringe group and perhaps more importantly reveal to the members of congress that the nra is a fringe group that should not be accorded the respect and the perceived power it has had in the past. i want to read a quote from wayne la lapierrre the head of the nra that you use in a powerful article you've written. this is wayne won't pierre, ceo of the nra saying with four more years of obama your firearms freedom

maybe this is more of a sign of walmart's desperation to get shoppers in. we've got to talk about apple because it's not just apple. obviously apple has an impact on nasdaq and certainly on the supply chain, various components and chips that feed into the i products here. >> qualcomm is a name that's a very well liked stock on the street. there's 50 analysts who cover it. 42 buys, five holds and a couple sells. here is the thing about this company, they sell to a lot of people other than apple. if you look at the chart, the two stocks have been very coordinated. all of a sudden, today, qualcomm is down 5%. let me tell you something about qualcomm, there's a $100 billion market cap. $26 billion. they pay a $1.67 dividend yield, expected to grow earnings, 16% next year and sales 23% and trades at a market multiple of about 15 times next year's earning. this is a company that gone thrown out, baby with the bath water today. i think it's worth taking a look at. >> the key stat was 6% of revenues come from apple. >> fairly simple strategy but always good to open
