walmart out there with over 4,000 locations. not that walmart and lumber liquidators compete in the same niche, but the penetration of lumber liquidators is just getting started, maybe around 5% here in the u.s. their margins are expanding for the same reason that walmart and home depot and best buy and 99 cent tree stores expanded economies of scale as they spread their overhead over a larger distribution base and build centers. cut to the operating margin issue. the key part of the short story here is that somehow lumber liquidators cheated their operating margins from 6 to 10% over the last few years. really did not make any sense if you look at comps. home depot in five years saw the operating margins double from 6 to 12%. walmart in eight years went from 4 to 6%. 99 cent stores margins quadrupled from 2 to 8% in two years and best buy's margins 1.5 to 4% over a four-year period peaking at 5.5% a few years ago. the idea that 10% of the sales with chinese laminate led to this market expansion is preposterous. >> you told me t
