so, to me, maybe it's the sort of thing where you buy walmart and sell costco here. >> walmart's had a strong run. >> yeah, i think it trades better on valuation and the like. so, to me, i don't know. i probably stick with walmart. >> now the chart. >> well, we got a couple charts, but concept accept chully, these the biggest by market cap and by sales, and this morning, we published a note, this is the note. it's a two-stock equal weight basket of walmart and costco. it's a trillion dollars plus, and that, to your point, sara, is just up and to the right. it's a gorgeous 45-degree angle. however, look at the second iteration. we are literally to the penny at the top of this 2009 to present channel. in every single instance it's hit that, it hit its head and fell. let's look at the funnymentals. >> ha-ha. >> this is costco, walmart, 1.2 trillion, the pe is 45. is that a steep chart? seems pretty steep to me. look at the price to sales chart. is this just a chart? doesn't have to be pricey. it's priced to sell. it's 1.3. your highest at any point. look at the price to ebitda chart. so

let's start with walmart.hat gives you a little bit more confidence in the name? scott: i would tell you that they have always been a low-cost leader, ok, so they have had that kind of reputation with consumers. but i think the big change with walmart has really been continuing to roll out various convenience options, whether that's home delivery, curbside pickup, they had this membership program, you know, basically walmart plus, and all sorts of derivatives off of that. any kind of resistance you had to shopping out walmart, they are knocking them down. they have really been able to narrow that competitive gap i really being able to service customers no matter how you want to shop. jonathan: costco is not just a relative trade, you know the changes the retailer has made to the shopping experience. what is it about the shopping experience at kostka right now that you think is harming consumption at the stores -- costco right now that you think is harming consumption at the source? scot: it's partly a valuatio

walmart does it the best, and they do bring the lowest prices. study i've done among the cheapest place to buy groceries. >> so let's talk a little about price gouging. do you see it in your work? or -- or have the price increases that have taken place since 2021, '22, have they been more opportunistic than malevolent i suppose? >> yeah. i think early days back in, you know, the start of pandemic and for that first year or two there was some supply issues. and there was concern. people were doing a lot of stock-up trips and visits to the grocery store. so prices were elevated at that point. then it continued. and it feels like, you know, the suppliers maybe got a little bit too greedy. i think the grocers tend to pass it on. they've been trying to keep prices stable. when we look at our pricing studies on a year-over-year basis for the past two, three years, you're only seeing kind of flat, maybe slightly down from the retail standpoint. so they've done a good job. they also leveraged their loyalty programs, their fuel regard programs to bring --
