we're off to a very hot start at 99 degrees in walnut creek. and this is why we have an excessive heat warning in effect through saturday. this could be extended through sunday because the heat will go on. meanwhile, right around the bay here we have a heat advisory in effect with temperatures up to 99 degrees in redwood city. and as you take a look at the good picture here, the entire state appears under a warning watch or an advisory. now, this is the second half of the story here. take a look at the relative humidity down to 7% in napa, 9% in livermore. and this is why we have a red flag warning in effect for the extremely low relative humidity. now i want to point out what is going on because this is a second day of this heat wave. temperatures up to about 25 degrees above normal by monday, most of our inland temperatures will drop beneath 100 degrees, but that's just most of them. not all. it won't be until saturday, july 13th, when we start to realize our average high temperatures here in the bay area. andre, that's still ten days away. a

look outside at san jose, walnut creek, dublin, and san rafael. earlier today, the bay area was baking again, some cities hitting triple digits. meteorologist rob mayeda is tracking the heat for us and ro. everyone is asking when is relief coming? it's on the way. just obviously not to start the weekend as we did see those inland east bay valleys climb up to 111 degrees today in livermore. that breaking a record 105 in concord, 101 degrees in santa rosa, san jose 96 san francisco, though the opposite end of the temperature spectrum today just 71 degrees. but look at the temperatures we still have outside. right now it's 80 out in danville, 70 in san jose, 60s and 50s from san francisco to oakland, and encouraging sign out towards fairfield. you got southwest winds at 22mph. so we're going to begin to see just a little bit of cooling, but not enough to let these heat advisories and the excessive heat warning expire. in fact, the end time to that is still wednesday as we head through the middle part of the week. but short term, some cooler changes a
