state of california's lack of support for our public schools. i want to suggest today i provided the city a number of proposals the last six months dealing with golden state warriors poem basketball arena. i'm asking today for this body to invite the chamber of commerce to be a partner with this issue of providing education for our kids. i teach in the classrooms and it's discussed over and over how critical it is with all of the budget cuts. when you're in a classroom in high school, 30, 40, 45 kids in a classroom. cuts have gone on beyond reason. i would suggest, like i said, i believe this body, city as you see exploring new revenue and how do you support the schools, i'm asking this body, supervisors, mayor, board of education to invite chamber of congress in this collaborative effort. i also work with the wshes. i'm proposing a high school classroom as part of that arena. i respectfully ask the warriors become a part of this community as a will. i'm hopeful and trust they will, providing a classroom inside at rinna would give -- the arena would give kids an incentive for practical real world experience and understanding and knowledge and business community i believe needs to suppo

the city where some say a new arena means new problems. >> reporter: the announcement caught many people by surprise. the golden state warriors plan to build a state of the art arena in time for the 2017 season. it's welcomed news for neighboring businesses. >> we're excited that this thing came out of nowhere. we liked the idea of them coming in. >> reporter: but as city supervisors today held their first hearing on the project some san franciscans told us they felt blind sided. >> people are very upset right now. >> reporter: residents here are irritated that they weren't consulted about pollution, consultant and crime concerns before the arena announcement. >> we want the warriors in san francisco, we welcome them with open arms. but we do have really grave concerns about putting an arena on 3032. >> there will be lots of open space. lots of greenery, and lots of access to the water. >> reporter: the team is still hammering out a lease agreement with the san francisco port. t.j. johnston say it is team has to do a lot of talking. an actual design of the proposed arena is still a ways off. the team must go through the speck

golden state warriors, appears 3332, i know that many of the regionpiers third -- piers 30 through 32, i know that the announcement was made to build a new arena. there is a lot of excitement in the city about this. the warriors used to play in san francisco. from 1962 to 1971 they played in san francisco. some of the former players were called but it was like and how important it was to have a great facility to play in. we are talking about the resolution from the board of supervisors that is being a considered right now. it would authorize the port to entered exclusive negotiations with of the warriors to develop its facility on piers 30 and 32. a very brief overview, we are just kicking off this process. it is a lengthy process, as those of you familiar with waterfront development know. on the screen right now is an interesting photograph you cannot see, the original construction of pier 32. out on the pier, building what is now their largest. so, so, the board of supervisors resolution authorizes open source negotiations. this would be a fair market rent agreement, as all of ours have to be. we have been down this road before with respect to pier 43 before it -- but332 before, on
