larger than that going all the way from midtown down fifth avenue, stopping, washington square park, now you are see, you can see, on madison avenue, huge numbers of police officers there. only a few protesters left. they have been breaking them up. having them go down different streets. there is no large group that we know of right now. we saw windows broken n at michael kors, at rockefeller plaz aat nintendo, by the time police moved in, the perpetrators moved off. they threw down barricades, this has been a largely paelsful protest. several people came up to me and said, this isn't what we want to do. this is our neighborhood. we have a message here, we want to get that message out. i think we saw one moment down in washington square park, a lot of the protesters, many thousands were shouting to police, take a knee. one of the police officers hugged one of the protest leaders, and indeed, they took a knee. not everyone, was happy with that they said it is all a show. most of the people said that what they wanted was the message to get out. they didn't want their neighborhoods dest

but judging from the size of this crowd that goes all the way to the other side of washington square park, not many people have decided to stay home. and i should point out this is not the only place in new york where people are gathering. it's a very diverse crowd. it's a very active crowd. there have been different moments. there's been singing, there's been speeches. now they're chartistarting to c. you can listen to them for a minute. lots of signs that say "black lives matter." different signs for "silence is violence". many of them talking about police matters. there have been over the course of this week of protests in new york more than 1,000 people who have been arrested after curfew. now, many of them were arrested early on. but this is also a crowd where many people say they had to come out because they are against what they have seen as overly aggressive police tactics, that police are using the exact tactics on them, peaceful protesters, that got them here in the first place. in fact, there are two officers in new york city who have been suspended because they got caught

we are just leaving washington square park. there was a moment of silence there and everybody is just together. it is a peaceful demonstration. it really is a march. people holding signs, which really is interesting also to watch, the neighborhood and how they've come out to support what is happening here. a lot of people have been cooped up inside of their homes and they've come to their windows in some cases to bang pots and pans, to show support of these marchers as they go through this street marching and you're hearing "no justice, no peace" right now. most of the people have been wearing masks. i say people giving out masks and water, giving out food. and they're just continuing to march. we're now heading north through here where you see water and snacks being given out. and that is what we're seeing here. it is very peaceful. it is beautiful to see, i have to tell you, after what i witnessed last night, seeing this really is a good feeling. because what went on last night was so awful. and you could tell everyone here -
