reason i say that is that i can thankfully tell you that we have a less infection rate in the state of washington than 45 other states. let me repeat that. because i have yet to see this in print. somebody could win a pulitzer on this. 45 other states have higher infection rates than we do today. this is a mark of success in the actions of the state of washingtonians who operated jointly out of a sense of compassion and responsibility. as a result, we have a fatality rate in our state that is less than half the per 100,000 rate across the state of washington. that rate is 106 deaths per 100,000 population. we're at 45. so if you do the math, we have saved thousands of lives because of the investment we are making in ourselves and our individuals and in our communities and our family members. it is paying off big time. difficult as this moment is for us all. and we intend to continue our efforts to be vigorous in saving lives in 2021, as we were in 2020. those lives are just as precious in january, 2021, as they were in may, 2020. so, we know we can't reopen every business today. we have provided
