last year washoe county investigated 10 child fatalities... of those.. 6 were related to unsafe sleep conditions. either the bedding was unsafe or children sleeping with their parents. and just this week... tragedy struck another family.... so 2016 is not starting out great because we've already had one child fatality because of unsafe sleeping conditions. co-sleeping is a common practice.... many parents believe it promotes bonding... but county officials are urging parents who do this to take a second look ... we absolutly support bonding and nurturing of children. but we know that sleeping with a child or placing a child in and unsafe sleeping condition can lead to death. i think the hardest part is that i'm a mom too and these deaths are preventable. so it's very frustrating. i thik there's a lot of misinformation out there, think there's a lot of controversy about where babies should sleep but the recommendations from the medical community are very clear. alone, on their back or in crib. the abc of safe sleeping, alone on their back in a
