ky sisson is live in washoe valley where construction crews have started working on this over pass. he has more on the project. good morning ky. good morning andi. the bellevue bridge behind me is almost 50 years old and is one of a few projects ndot is working on in washoe valley to keep roadways safe for the 32,000 vehicles that drive i-580 to and from reno and carson city everyday. meg ragonese- "this seismic rehab of bellevue bridge will make sure the bridge is that much safer in the event of an earthquake we might see in the region." the seismic rehab ragonese is bigger project in washoe valley that will include repaving 7 miles of i580, improving the east lake boulevard underpass and build an auxillary merge lane from east lake boulevard to north carson city. all of these projects are expected to last thru fall of this year. for the bellevue bridge they will mostly be making it less weight. "we're going to be reducing the weight load on the bridge itself by 300,000 pounds and what that does is just ultimately makes the bridge safer and stronger." > and its not just this bridge

covering the story live in washoe valley, ryan canaday channel two news thanks ryan... it looks like the wind could be picking up tomorrow. chief meteorologist mike alger is in the weather center... mike how much moisture could this next storm bring? strong winds associated with a cold front have kicked off a high wind warning for western nevada, in effect throughout the day wednesday. those winds will create an initial rain shadow for the valleys, but late in the day as the winds ease a bit we could see some rain reach the reno area. as the front moves through wednesday night snow levels will fall from 7,500' all the way down to near the valley floors, although all the heat temperatures should limit valley accumulations. high temperatures in the low 60s will crash down to the upper 40s on thursday. for the mountains, a winter storm warning will go into effect wednesday evening, with the heaviest precipitation expected to occur overnight. possible accumulations are in the one to two foot range above 7,000', with significantly less at lake level. by friday, the storm sys

the washoe county registrar's office is not open on the weekend so the last day to register is tomorrow. carson city sheriffs are urging residents to join the fight against drugs after a major methamphetamine drug bust in the area. after a four month long investigation, the tri-net narcotics task force arrested five men in carson city who were involved in a distribution ring at an east carson city apartment complex. ken furlong from the carson city sheriff's department says the operation posed a big threat to the neighborhood and he believes the threat is not over. furlong: "stanton arms apartments which is where this occured. there's a lot of families and children. so they really were creating a cancer in the middle of families." sheriff furlong says this is the third drug bust in the area, and there are likely more drug rings operating in the same neighborhood. he says the drugs are smuggled up from mexico, sold here in our area, then the money is sent back to mexico. if you see any suspicious activity don't hesitate to call the sheriff's president obama is asking for 1.1 billion doll
