first, "newsmakers" with the the wasserman schultz and jon thuman. -- de4bbie wasserman schultz. representative debbie wassermanthank you for being with us. >> joining us is david levinthal, a reporter for politico. thank you for being with us. let me begin by asking about florida. you said the president will win your state. breakdown the demographics of florida. where will the president do well and mitt romney? >> let's just talk about how early voting has been going. you do that combined with the absentee voting. going into early voting, we cut the absentee ballots by 85%. going in they had about 36,000 ballots when normally they have more than 200,000 ballots more than us. when early voting ended yesterday we had 104 more democrats that have cashed out. -- 104,000 more that have cast ballots. we have run circles around them because of our very strong and ground game. there has been an explosive turnout of democrats in major counties. yesterday we had single day records and major counties around the state of florida. going into election day weekend see in my state that the enth

"wall street journal" is reporting that the fbi agent who launched

joining me tonight is congressman debbie wasserman schultz. good night at the office. get down to the devil and the detail. do you think republicans are willing to soften their position and actually do a deal? >> i'd like to speaker boehner's remarks the other day as at least the extension of some kind of an olive branch. but i'm hearing the same things i heard on the budget committee on which i sit through the ryan budget which did exactly that. reform the taxes. they talked about lowering the overall tax rates and closing loopholes that they really have never identified. so that doesn't sound different. but i'm optimistic that because president obama has proposed in his $4 trillion deficit reduction $2.50 in cuts for every $1 in revenue. if mitch mcconnell is willing to go dollar for dollar, we should be able to work together. i heard lots of good things over the weekend from senate and house republicans who have said they want to work together. >> would democrats accept a dollar for dollar? >> what we need to do is sit down and agree right away to adopt the middle c

debbie wasserman schultz is with us, christie todd whitman and anita turner here to discuss florida, cane sandy's impact on tomorrow's election. good morning to you and debbie wasserm wasserman shult, how are you? >> i'm okay. >> what happened in your state? it really looked like a nightmare in some places. >> it has been. what happened is very clear. you have republicans led by rick scott and the republican legislature who first shrunk the number of days available from 14 to eight. you have a systematic effort to stop people from voting. shrink the number of people who have been able to go to the polls. we had yesterday in miami-dade county, absolutely unconscionable effort to really basically remove people from line, stop them from being able to cast an in person or absentee ballot and you know, what the issue here is that we should be making sure people have more access to being able to cast the ballot. not less, but the republicans in florida and across the country know that you know, when it comes to the issue, when it comes to winning elections on the merits, they are unable to
