fire crews put out the fire at the waterloo home last week. the 110-year-old building is supposed to be abandoned -- but rescue crews say the man had been living inside. kwwl's elizabeth amaneh is live in amanda/ron-this is just one of a number of abandoned buildings in waterloo. and for some homeless people - like chad bruce who was rescued live in these buildings instead of shelters in the area. now chad bruce is left without a place to stay. he's been homeless since may. but he says he's choosing to not seek help at a shelter. shelters-like the salvation army offer both shorr housing to help the homeless get back on their feet. the salvation army says it's a two way street for those seeking help-the homeless have to be willing to follow the rules and regulations.
