host: and wayne joining us from florida. caller: good morning. that comparison between jimmy carter and the tea party is, it couldn't be more wrong. jimmy carte was all about big government, big taxes. he had under his administration or this domestic policy we had high unemployment, we had high inflation, and we had high interest rates, all three at the same time. the economists said that couldn't happen but it took a liberal like carter to do it. the tea party is about cutting spending, reducing taxes, making government smaller, more opportunity for jobs, there's no comparison there. i lived through the carter administration, and it was probably i would say the worse administration that i've gone through in 60-something years. host: let me jump in. in fairness to senator bennett i think what his point is that jimmy carter ran on a campaign without anything to back up what he wanted to do in the country. ronald reagan ran with an agenda to change the country. and that's what he was saying. like those who voted for carter because they were fed up

army and world war ii and sat with fascination listening to those things and huge fan of the john waynerowing up and then as you grow you realize war is not quite what the movies portrayed it to be. i went over to germany and saw the soldiers that come back there to get treatment from afghanistan and iraq. i just was inspired by them and their self-lessness and their sacrifice. one of the episodes for starting strong, we went to fort sam houston in texas where all combat medics are created and trained and i was around a thousand young people between 18 and 25 and all volunteered to be combat medics and all knew they were going be deployed to combat zones and i was taken by them as a group, how impressive they were. and i played great military characters and roles in films over my career and so i don't know why the bond is there but it is there. >> shannon: are you hoping that the average american out there who gets a chance to watch your different can gain a deficits insight for appreciation into the military? >> i hope they get a sense how much the meantors and older people in the mili

i could ask all three of them and let you black and white -- black and wayne added.the second thing is i know that there was a settlement with aig for $6.1 to african-american customers. while i never thought i would live to see a day that i thought $6.1 million was a paltry sum, given the magnitude of distressed that aig and others caused african-american customers, that seems like a fairly modest settlement. to the extent that you are able to provide any details on that case, without violating whatever ethical standards you have, it would be helpful to get some information on that. and then finally, i wanted to applaud obviously the objections that you all have opposed to the proposal of kinston, north carolina, to change its voting system under the voting rights act precludes provisions -- preclearance provisions. and i would like to get perhaps in writing, again, because i'm not sure five minutes will do justice to it, some assessment of the kind of preparation you are making for the onslaught of cases that are likely to come as soon as this sense is is over. i s

the congressman who i think could lose is mark saweder from fort wayne who is facing a couple challengersand just the other day he said that going through this campaign has convinced him not to run for reelection in 2012. that's not exactly the kind of tone we hear from most successful republican congressmen seeking renomination in a primary. he very well could lose to an auto dealer who souder is accusing of taking cash for clunkers money. meanwhile, souder voted for tarp. so this is the first election where republicans have to defend their vote on tarp if they voted for that back in 2008. then we also have some competitive races in southern indiana. brad else worth, a democrat w40 picks up a republican seat now running for senate. that seat may fall to the republicans. in southeastern indiana bare ronhill, a democratic congressman came back to the house in 2006, he is running in what we consider a toss-up race. we don't know who the republican nominee will be, but it's one of the seats the democrats could very easily lose given its composition and his risky votes on health care, cap and
